Think I’ve used around 7-8 on exalts only and no dice yet. Found about 9-10 total so far so waiting to stock up again before trying, but yes, they do seem quite rare and barely work from what I gather.
Hmm… Makes me wonder if you can add duplicate affixes… i.e. a sealed +1 and then a normal +1 affix of the same time… never tried… but that would be an easy way to get a +2 - barring obviously the rarity of the rune…
never tried…
it really is better then people give it credit, for example, you got a shiny new pair of exalted boots with no movespeed, and you have a t1 prefix. if you seal the t1 prefix there is now a mere 6 prefixes that can roll, you discover, you have a 1/6 chance to hit move speed, then every single chaos after that has 1/5 chance to hit move speed.
Despairs are usable in multiple ways, they can be used as “blocks” for crafting, an extra value affix(things that are good at level 1, armor shred chance, skill levels) or as that high level gambit to make a godly item.
I think despairs are actually super underrated. I wish they were more common because of how good they are.
I think this is a very clever use of the glyph. I also think the fact that this strategy is likely the most effective works against what I perceive as the intended design of those glyphs. They’re supposed to be an opportunity to add another desirable affix to a piece of gear. Instead, in this instance, we’re using it to remove an undesirable one. This underlines, to me, the problem with making it basically guaranteed at low tiers while also highly unlikely at high tiers.
I think its a mixed bag. if they make it more likely for high end crafts with our current system you will be able to pump out insane items. Im pretty sure you can also seal more then 1 affix if im not mistaken.
So its just one of those things where the intent will never line up with usage unless they literally decide to break items. getting a desirable t1 or t2 is pretty okay for what it is.
if they simply give it its current rates at all affix level then its just a bad glyph instead of being a utility glyph and would lose some charm that the glyph brought to exalt crafting.
You can only seal one affix, so that’s got a limit on it.
I don’t think they should lower the seal chance for lower tiers, it’s the higher tiers that I think are out of whack. I don’t think it should be practically guaranteed like it is for low tiers, but I don’t see why something like a 50/50 chance at getting a tier 4 sealed affix would be too OP. It’s basically like a form of corrupting, because often times if you fail to seal it’s not going to be better than what you already have since despair is largely used only in endgame. I just think we should feel like we actually have a realistic shot of sealing a good affix, given its scarcity. I also think it’s fine keeping the functionality of removing a bad affix if that’s what the player wants to do, but I’d rather that be more of a niche function, and players are generally more interested in chasing for a more powerful item with it.
Used it twice, once I was able to seal 3 vitality on a chest, the other was was a fail. I think for a fair chance you should use it on T2 or T3 at most.
I’m okay with the difficulty of it mostly. I sealed a couple T4 affixes last night. Even a “fail” still upgrades the affix, so it isn’t like its a total loss of FP.
This is probably me being a dumbass but nothing in glyph tooltip says you can’t re-add the same stat but it doesnt work for me. Is this intentional (retorical) ? if it did work then this could be a neat way of creating double T6 (T2 seal + T5 roll) or double T7 (T3 seal + T5 roll) exalted items
You can’t have a duplicate stat. It functions the same as the prefixes and suffixes, where you can’t craft two of the same stat on the item.
