That node is, IMO, worth it for the attack speed alone. The only time you wouldn’t benefit from the Dusk Shroud chance is if you’re using a Channelled skill (Flurry/Puncture with their “charged” nodes, actually add the Channelled tag).

edit: I only pop smoke bomb on bosses really or in arena, is there a better way to use it or is that basically it?
@Llama8 I’m using throwing attacks so I figured I would have skipped it and I didn’t realize that it doesn’t work with channeled skills but I haven’t explored a lot of the nodes yet

That’s totally fine, use it, when you want to facetank something or, when you know the next few seconds of fighting will be stationary.
You can also mass pull alot of mobs and then use smoke bomb
