I am new to the end game and just had a general question. I just made it to empowered monoliths and I don’t have trouble getting through each area, but the boss can one shot me. Im trying to figure out why. I have all max resistance, except lightning. However, im in Black Sun, so dealing with void. I have capped critical avoidance. I will say my hp is low, only 1090. I also have low armor percentage. I just was hoping to get some advice. Maybe I just need to learn the mechanics more. I don’t know if it matters but I am running the ballista falconer build.
most of the kills are from timed or telegraphed attacks. once you learn the fight they are easier to avoid. mobility is important. Don’t stand in the pretty colors. Evade helps if your traversal skill is down. Stack up hit points too.
As someone already mentioned, you need to understand the mechanics of the fight, each boss has specific attacks, and indicators of the next attacks that you will learn to read. Avoiding damage is the best way to survive (hence why EHG added an evade button recently).
Capped resistances are not even the bare minimum of defence, you also need HP, armour, damage mitigation, damage conversions, crit avoidance (you already mentioned having), and there are many other forms of defence so I won’t list them all; block, ward, dodge, glancing blow, etc. You need a few of these layers in combination, but you don’t need all of them.
Sustain is very important too, health leech, healing, HP regen, etc. etc.
You need about 3x the HP that you currently have. But mainly, get to know your enemies, and their movements, and their telegraphs (indicators of attacks), and you will be fine.

It kinda depends on build if you are melee you will have to stand in mechanics. Also this is where gear comes in so you don’t have to stop doing damage to avoid mechanics. Which is ideal.
This is ideal so more damage equals more sustain and then you don’t have to do mechanics and stop damage.
Yea this is some very low HP and when starting empowered and some bosses the damage will be jarring.
Set up in your loot filter to highlight Hybrid health affixes. This will be a single affix that gives _+HP and % Health. It’s a rarer affix but very important on some slots for getting your HP up there faster.
Then Armor goes a long way vs 1 shot mechanics especially once you get into the 3-4k range and above 50% reduction. Armor will also bolster your resist and ward if using it.
