before i get yapped at for "“hating” on the game i like the game actually i played every cycle for atleast a week and i had fun but no longer than that becuz of very little endgame content its just each cycle they have significantly less players the previous cycle had only 40k concurent players on steam im a merchant guild player so the less people play the more terrible it feels to play merchant guild that this next cycle il probably play fortune guild
No, Season 5 will not be the last. Season 6, which is the same as the expansion – Last Epoch: Orobyss “LEO” will be the largest content release to date, and will also launch on PlayStation. The developers have said they are already working on Season 7 and 8 as well.
I’m positive that Krafton is committed to and through the PlayStation launch so Last Epoch is going to continue for quite some time as far as I can see.
Last Epoch: Orobyss will finally finish the campaign/story, chapters 11 and 12 and introduce the new “Paradox” class + "Skill Sigils, endgame updates and a lot more.
If the game ends up having full cross-play support with PlayStation, along with the new faction updates coming Oct. 1st, “Merchant’s Guild” should be much better I would imagine.
If you want to follow the progress of Last Epoch more closely, I would watch Aaron’s weekly developer recap video and follow his channel “ActionRPG”.
No, Season 5 won’t be the last.
We’ll at least see Season 6.
My estimation is that depending on sales numbers there EHG mit get dissolved and the project stomped down.
Season 7 and 8 being worked on means nothing, but the chances for Season 7 to arrive are relatively decent. Season 8 onward is entirely up in the air.
Mind you, this only upholds if Season 7 is significantly faster in release timeframe then any other before. If EHG upholds the current speed then the most likely estimation from me is that Season 6 with the expansion is the end of LE’s development.
I’m going to play this game until it dies.. I’m loyal to it. <3
Good for you?
Though I don’t quite know if you understand the term ‘loyality’ properly. Are you working for EHG?
Otherwise what we describe as ‘loyal customer’ has only to do with repetition of buying good or using the service since that customer was treated right and hence prefers to stay with said company over another which doesn’t have the guarantee of providing either the reliability or quality.
Do you think EHG has ‘done right’ to you as a customer by providing what they provided?
Or are you solely only enjoying the game on a subjective basis while willingly ignoring the objective situations which are ongoing? Which is fine too… but then you should switch away from the term of ‘loyality’. Since if the only reason you’re here is because no functional competition of the game exists for a specific area (whatever that might be for you) doesn’t make you ‘loyal’, it’s instead what is described as a ‘captive customer’ since there is no other available choice existing.
And the other only existing alternative is that you think EHG is providing a proper service as they’re supposed to do and nothing is going wrong. Which is a personal shortcoming then in your capacity. Which would be quite sad.
So which is it? A form of ‘system justification’, ‘choice-supportive bias’ or as a third called option ‘brand tribalism’.
Or is it a lack of ability?
I’m curious there actually. It’s not meant to disparage you, all power to you enjoying the game and not finding fault with it. Ignorance is after all bliss for a reason. But what urges you to be ‘loyal’? What are they doing that in return warrants said loyality?
Yes, so what is it?
The people of EHG? Loyality is earned after all, what did they do?
The idea itself? That’s fine, but that means on a business side it’s a ‘captive customer’ state and not a positive thing. Gotta stay because nobody else does the same.
The group? That would be the community itself.
So that doesn’t quite answer my question.
There is a difference between ‘loyality’ and ‘blind faith’ after all, and it’s quite important.
Or to state it different:
Loyality is a conscious, two-way commitment built on trust, shared values and mutual respect.
Blind faith is an unconditional, uncritical surrender of your of judgement and critical thinking where you keep supporting no matter which evidence or moral wrongs arise.
And you had said the same thing before.
Your promises of loyalty don’t really hold much weight.
It is enough Kulze. Sentiment is understood but is not shared. Other people do believe in this game. Other people are not that bitter with this game.
If anything, I do still believe. The joy is in the journey after all; not in the destination. I simply enjoy while it last.
Yeah, which is fine. I’ve asked that because of who made the comment, not in general. The person which made the comment flip-flops around mentally more then soemone with bipolar disorder and mania combined.
This unlikely to be the last. Unless Krafton sees absolutely no way that season 6 turns it around this should at least live until S6.
After season 6 is when we start to gamble on when the plug gets pulled. Potentially it will be right right after S6 if it still does poorly in sales (not in player numbers, Krafton only cares for the numbers on their bank accounts). More likely, due to a few people with less good sense spending money on the DLC and some uninformed people of the state of LE buying it on console there is going to be an inflation in sales although to what extent remains to be seen.
That may allow LE to live until S7 if Krafton gets the hope that sales are now on the uptick and they only have to keep that momentum going but that is not going to be momentum, it’s just a very obvious anomaly which will be very clear by S7 and this is where I have been saying for a very long time that LE is probably going to get terminated by Krafton.
Of course, time will tell exactly when that happens, as of right now best guesses are just that, guesses.
Season 5 is taking like 6 months and it’s just a small one (again) season 6 we’ll be lucky to get before 2028.
On that note they keep referring to it as an expansion for that one - are they just meaning it’s expanding to console because I usually think of things like The Burning Crusade in WoW to be an expansion so if it’s a year in between and called an expansion there would need to be so much new stuff…
LE:O will be our expansion and will serve as Season 6 for Last Epoch. With that, the game will also launch on PS5 at that time. So yes, it is an Expansion that is also making its debut on PS5 at the same time.
Thanks for that - any chance you can expand even if its very vaguely on the expansion part - does that mean an expansion to the campaign or just more content or is it just an expansion due to being expanded to console, just curious. Would love more world map or much larger campaign as I am in that tiny pool of psychopaths who plays through the campaign on pretty much every character I make which is usually 20+ per season.
No problem!
I can say that this expansion will act as a conclusion to the game’s Orobyss Saga, so expect 2 more campaign chapters and other things (sigils, updates to monoliths, and so on).
It’s still a bit early to share details about LE:O since we have Season 5 to get through.
Once we’re ready to drop details on LE:O, we absolutely will, so sit tight!
Nah that’s fine in terms of sharing man if you read our convos the other day and feel like passing it on we as players and this covers what I’ve read from tons more posts on poe2 would rather hear/see things like “boys we have this really cool thing XYZ coming, it might take a year buy it’s coming” over something like “I dont have any info on that right now” lol cos man, y’all know what you’re working on and it’ll make people far more exciting knowing it’s eventually coming than not to know anything at all so to me (as you know a veteran whinger/debbie downer/angry guy) I am absolutely fine and happy with “sigils and updates to monos”!
I’ll take that anyday over “yep new stuff is coming brosif”
So thank you ![]()
i would say loyalty as a gamer can mean different things. i used to see myself as a POE loyalist. i would defend it and play it vehemently. i would also throw loads of cash at the devs.
does loyalty require spending money? when i was younger i played many free games “loyally”. spend god knows how many hours. but i spent ZERO on the game itself. the devs got zero from me. but i still consider myself a loyal gamer back then. sometimes always playing the same game rather than hopping.
but the reality is loyalty means NOTHING. EHG needs CASH. a person who played LE 10 hours but drops 100 USD is doing more for the game than a person who spent 30 USD but plays 1000 hours.
i m also pretty sure the game WILL survive even if the servers go down as theres an offline version available. big hats off to EHG for that.
one does not need to say “will keep playing LE till it shuts down”, a true loyalist would say they probably might keep playing LE even after the official servers shut down.
but anyway theres no use speculating anything. love LE hate LE. things happen. EHG doesnt plan for this to be the last season and i hope it wont be and i hope EHG finds success.
speaking of such i’ve lurked in this forums for too long. this month would be the 1 year noninstallaversary of LE for me, i’ve been following LE closely in hopes that it can pique my interest.
sadly LE falls in between the cracks. POE is there for me if i want to farm OP gear and do stupid uber content (i’ve cleared some of the ubers so far). titan quest 2/ no rest for the wicked has more deliberate combat. grim dawn has everything i want for a complete single player experience where i can SSF all my own gear/craft what i want. i would also say GD respects my time a huge lot more.
LE is somewhere in the middle but not excelling at any one area in particular. EHG has real interesting ideas but with GD/TQ2/NRFTW in their current form i dont see myself ever coming back to LE.
i will still cheer LE on and maybe one day return out of nostalgia. a new season is not enough to pull me back. currently i m addicted to GD, which is a game that i sunk so many hours in back in the day. i cant wait to go back home and level my new character as i have a new build i want to make work. in GD i know i can make it work and i dont have fomo on killing the “end bosses”. i know i can farm and make the gear i want. everything is within reach. i used to have that feeling in LE before S1. now we have t8 mods, where t7 is hard enough. the game has made itself inaccessible to me.
LE is indeed a great game. i wish it went a different direction. but its not. and at this point i dont see it ever “course correcting”. my wants and needs do not reflect everyone and could even be seen as a minority. and to that i take my leave. i ll probably hang around a little longer before logging out from these forums for good.
its sad to see passionate people voice their opinions here and sometimes there can be a lot of negativity. LE needs passionate players. disgruntled players can be a good thing. it shows they care about the game. i bitched a huge lot in POE. but the moment i stopped bitching. i found myself playing the game less and playing it rather more casually. passion is a strange thing. it can cause anger and hate. in a weird way, hate sometimes comes from the intense love people have towards something. if not hate then strong emotions.
the real last season for LE is when people no longer complain. when people stop talking. to me that was season 3? i cant recall.
if you like the game. play it. if i m allowed to rant a little, this is where i get pissed off with all the seasonal shit. a lot of the newer audience loves seasonal content. they need a new toys as an excuse to play the game. i played POE on standard. i played d2 solo. i played many d-likes solo. before the latest expansion i played a whole lot of GD. why? because i truly enjoy those games. seasonal/new content is just a bonus. but i like them so much i dont need shiny new toys to get me playing. i guess thats also a hint to why i m not going back to LE. a good game wouldnt need seasonal content for players to keep playing. sure seasonal content can bring back MORE players. but still… its debatable if they truly like the game. many people in poe drop the game after they hit 40/40. some within literally a week or 2.
yet many devs cater so much to them. it infuriates me. but it is what it is. anyway thanks for the fish
EDIT: checking steam the last i played was aug 23. iirc it was the season with primal items. i played for a short while. felt meh and uninstalled. if not counting that brief “reinstall to check the game”, my last play time would have been even more longer behind.
i do miss playing this game and i do remember this game fondly. i was contemplating making a “final final” post or to add a new reply. but i felt like i’ve already announced my departure a long time ago. by editing this message, i get to just have a silent farewell. if people dont realize the edit. its fine. i m logging off the forums after this and i have no intention of stalking the forums anymore.
thats it for me. i m using a rune of shattering onto my account now. adios
Popping back on the forums between two GD sessions, and I find this amazing post…
That is just uncanny, I agree 100% with every word you wrote, this is exactly how I feel. For one second I thought I had sleepwalked and written that myself.
A few months ago, around the start of season 4, I considered coming back to LE. But everything has changed, everything has become so obscure and complex I couldn’t find the willpower to re-learn all that. So I launched GD instead.
My 4 years all characters were all still working fine. Then I created a few new ones. All by myself, no need to read anything, no mechanics to study, just go and enjoy the ride. Four months later, I am still having a blast and theorycrafting new builds. I guess, like you, I am deep down a solo-offline-standalone-game player rather than a seasonal one.
Oh well. To each their own. Mine simply isn’t LE anymore. No hard feelings, it is simply that since 0.9 the devs have chosen a direction that isn’t for me. And as you say, they are trapped in a self-made doom circle, they need always more mechanics for each season, fast. There will never be time to polish or balance. I don’t see that ever changing.
Yeah you’re right they need to work on 1 release in the future not 3… its madness when the game needs to much work to the core still especially bugs
With the amount of content GGG is able to push out, for both PoE 1 and 2 and the quality of said content.. It indeed does look pretty bleak for LE’s future. It would require an entire rework of the game, and becoming a stable in delivering quality content. Which we have yet to see.
Another 2 seasons maybe? if the expansion flops, then i doubt we will see alot more of LE in the future. Just this next season seems so underwhelming compared to what we get in other ARPGs in half the type.
