General feedback after 9 hours

Bug: Gate to the lake doesn’t drop when you kill the boss nearby. level 25 or so. I had to kill that boss like 4 times before the gate dropped. i almost refunded on that one.

initial impression: a titan quest aesthetic with some mixture of d3 ui with some limited skill expansion without the freedom/novelty of poe’s link system.

General feedback: i can tell there is an enemy on the screen sometimes, but only if it moves. so, that’s a sign that its too dark. i know there is a lighting setting, which mine is set at the default. its absurdly dark at times.

I don’t know how far I have progressed in the story, but if you were to ask me what the game looks like, i’d say sort of brown or dark purple, except when i use my skills. i’d say my memory is some dinosaurs, and about 8 hours of dark purple and elemental nova. couldn’t tell what the world looks like. probably isn’t one.

the game doesn’t say what spell attunement is. don’t care at this point. probably not signicant, which makes me wonder why its even there.

the passive tree underlines key terminology, but you can’t see any details about some things.

just a bunch of dark purple. and it’s really killing the mood.

That’s odd. I’m having a bit of trouble understanding at what point of the game you precisely mean, but I’ve run through the early half of the campaign 5 times now and I’ve never had a problem with progressions breaks like this. I’d recommend reporting this to the bug section with more details: Bug Reports - Last Epoch Forums.

Agree to disagree somewhat. PoE’s skill system is certainly novel and has a lot of freedom in terms of skill combinations, but I don’t feel that LE’s skill system feels particularly lacking. LE is 100% more class focused than PoE is (especially before Ascendancies were added). This does give a little less freedom, but a proper build still is thematically synergistic. What I mean to say is that with PoE of course you could use a bunch of different attack skills alongside spells…but most optimal builds use 1-2 active abilities and the rest are utility/triggered. The same kind of ends up happening here.

The nice thing though with LE’s skill trees is that you’re free to fully customize out every skill in your bar, whereas you’d only get maybe 2 6 Links in PoE. Ultimately i feel it’s less freedom, but not to any particular detriment.

Your opinion is totally valid for yourself though.

I did feel that that was the case kind of early into playing myself, but I also felt the same about PoE, Diablo, Grim Dawn, etc. I’d just recommend upping your brightness a bit, and if it won’t kill your immersion, turn on health bars. Honestly after playing the game for a while, I don’t feel like I have any problem seeing enemies (also different parts of the game have brighter world areas with more color than just purple).

Remember, the start of the game is in the void-filled “Ruined Era” and is meant to be very dark and purple. Divine/Imperial/Ancient Era have much more virbrant palettes.

Not quite sure what you mean here, but if you mean the attunement tag on spells, it means that the spell is affected by your Attunement (one of your stats). You can hold ALT on most skill and a lot of things get explained there.
