No it’s not?
They have always said that it is something they would like to add, if/when they have the time and resources.
But yes, if they have started working on it and have a timeframe, that is good news. Haven’t read any specifics though.
The better include the option for furby. I’m gonna throw a serious hissy-fit if my Void Knight can’t identify as the Lemur I roleplay with my local furby clan.
Not being able to customize your character is legitimately something I care so strongly about that I probably won’t play this game. I never liked gender locking and the fact that I can’t change the character’s appearance I can’t “bond” with the character as being mine. When I first purchased the game I didn’t realize that, that feature was not implemented and didn’t play very long. I figured they would add it in later, but now it is a month from launch, and still no customization. Booooooo.
You’re asking them to double their development and design time in order to accomplish this.
They’ve said before they’d love to do this in the future, but it’s too intensive right now and they don’t have the budget for it.
Also "Boooo"ing them over something that was never promised is just unnecessary.
Have you read Mox’s post at the top of the thread (post 20 of something)? I’m thinking that a word from our sponsor the guy in charge might be useful.
I just bought the game after seeing a lot of hype around the 1.0 release. After the purchase, I realized the classes were gender locked with no customization options. I’m now in the process of refunding the game.
Hopefully this is a feature that’s added in the future, then I’d be happy to reconsider the purchase.
IDC much for Customizing hair & such in ARPG but it would be nice to have an option of genders, without it, some classes I’d like to try out just feel less interesting to me. Hope it comes soon.
Would you reconsider at least character customization option if not gender?
I don’t have problems with playing as a male, but it’s not pleasant for me that I am locked with this old ugly man as a mage.
Hair? Age? Face customization?
It would be easier to implement genders than what you suggest. As explained, the problem is creating the models, animations, etc. Allowing genders means twice the work. Allowing age, hair, etc, is way more exponential.
I expect customization might come in the future, it’s just not a priority right now when we’re still missing key gameplay features like missing skills or more endgame mechanics.
I want to start with, I’m old as heck! My first electronic game was ‘pong’ and the game itself was a “console” (not a cartridge). Approx. 45 years ago. While I personally don’t care what my character looks like, it’s all about the game and what I can do with it that matters to me. I do understand why people would feel it’s necessary to have choice. Specially, in todays technology.
That said, with regards to EHG and LE, I’m glad they chose to limit their resources this way. It allowed them to focus on what is important; Gameplay, Mechanics, Stability, Content…etc. With the amount of thought and process EHG has put in this game, I have no doubt in my mind that they are thinking about this very subject. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is going to be an update in the future.
My opinion, let it ride, give them time to develop, the character models are great. It’s harder than you think to change a character model. It’s not just adding male or female anatomy. Animations, Gear…etc. is expensive.
At the end of the day, Top Down view, doesn’t show off any character in game. You only get to see it in the character in the character select screen. I’m not vain enough to care in an ARPG.
Yup, I remember that.
0 attachment to the characters. Some of us play video games for escapism, and cant fathom playing as girls while we are males.
Ive always played games where the character i create is the closest resemblance to me, yes i do not look like my Diablo 4 barbarian, even tho, believe me i very much wish i did, but my D4 barbarian looks the closest to me, and how i would look like if i were a 2 meter sculptured god.
Its very different if i were playing “Characters” for example, Last of Us’s Ellie. im Fine with that. She is a different character. I am not naming her, making her, and building her, im just living her expiriences
Again, like in the other thread, not minimizing your issue. But I am actually the opposite. If I’m given the choice, I’d rather play a female model. I don’t personally identify with the characters (especially in an ARPG), so if I’m going to be looking at a character for hundreds of hours, I’d rather look at a woman
This is precisely it, right here.
Also for me personally, being less attached to the identity of the character increases the escapism factor.
I’m entirely in the same boat. As things stand, I’ll never be able to play a rogue and enjoy it as much as I would any of the other male classes.
I adore this game, I just don’t see how in 2024 asking for character customization, bet it as basic as basic can be, is asking for too much.
I truly believe that this should be prioritized, they can even monetize new character skins and in all reality, animations don’t need to be changed much if at all to fit the new character skin.
I can see a world where figuring out a way for people to customize their base class models through MTX would allow for more resources for the devs and allow for more personal customization to differentiate our characters while enjoying the multiplayer.
I don’t confuse life and the game, I’m ready to play with green goo xD
My favorite class is a Rogue style, but because being forced to play as a female I won’t touch it.
To each their own, but when I make a character I want to model it in the fantasy world after “how I see myself” or “how I want to be”.
Nothing against females being a rogue, but I am not inspired to be a female as I play through the world.
What many people fail to understand, is, this is not snapping your fingers and… done!
Actually takes a LOT of work to make another model, because implies animations for every skill and movement, adjustments for every visual addon (armor/skins), a separate voice acting, hit boxes, etc etc…
I think is near to irrelevant to enjoy an ARPG, and I don’t mind if people ask for it nicely, but irks me when people feel entitled to gatekeep a game that decides their characters in certain way. Just don’t play it and move on…
Is like storming into the EHG forums asking this to be a football game, because is 2024!!
Dev team they said make2gender=workX2!
i am okay work hard X2 i didn’t care about gender lock but i care about hair style tattoo style and skin colour change body character customization thin fat tall and short
