Gearing: uniques -vs- crafted setups

I edited this post to just say I’d like to see some targeted farming for craftables.

Like a cold boss has a higher chance to drop items with cold affixes, fire boss - fire affixes, etc.

Or as @Heavy states below, maybe some blessings that increase drop chances of certain affixes.

Previously I wrote I’d like to see uniques more in use but after staring at many other builds today I retract that thought.

The thing I am constantly reminding myself is, that this game is still in Beta and there will be a host of changes, updates, additions etc as time passes. I would hope they still have a lot to implement in the game!

Unqiues are supposed to be very niche and situatiuonal with alot of sacrifices, so you usually don’t take more than 1 or 2.

But we don’t even have legendaries now and we not know which role they will fill in the whole gearing proccess.

But i like the current state if gearing verymuch as it is.

With uniques you know in advance what stats you are getting in each gear slot.
You can farm them over and over for perfect rolls, but thats all.
With rares in a contrary you have general idea what you want to get, but there is a possibility that new rare that you find will make you reshuffle the rest of your gear.

For example you had t5 poison resistance in your gloves, but you dropped helmet with t7 poison resistance. Now in order to balance your gear you have to find new gloves as well.

How about some bosses having a higher drop for some items?
Like cold damage based bosses have a higher chance to drop items with cold affixes?
Or minion bosses dropping minion related affixes.
They don’t have to be a loot pinata of cold items just a simple higher chance.
These items can be found elsewhere of course but at least players have some sort of target for items to craft or uniques.

Guess I’m a little tired of seeing thousands of useless crap on the ground. i.e. PoE
I’d like to see some targeted farming involved JUST A LITTLE. Doesn’t have to be a this-boss-only-drops-this type of thing.

I’d like some excitement when my cold mage defeats that cold boss and I know I have a better chance for craftables than farming mono 20 times in a row.

I also like the idea of target farming. LE already did implement quite a similar system with the blessings. Maybe they can improve upon more blessings that increase occurance of certain affixes.

Target farming does not need to be specific content/bosses this way.

There has been statement that there will be about 1 legendary per gear set up and the that don’t want them to be mandatory, but enough of a chase item to be warranted. But the main goal of the gear for LE is to have the majority of gear that is BIS to be crafted. @Stabbie

@Heavy, I like that. Or how about idols that increase targeted affix drops. Kind of getting into the magic find affix territory there but I like where that is going with blessings.
Maybe give us more than 3 blessings to chose from. Six? Otherwise we gonna end up non-stop grinding to change blessings. :slight_smile:

After ~2 weeks and trying to find good base drops (looking for magics & rares with specific affixs) to craft and upgrade gear, it’s getting a tad grindy. I find my best avenue for gear to craft is via gambling by far. It’s a tad out of balance in my eyes.

(Yes, yes, it is beta, and this is feedback for current state. :wink:

I would rather stay with meta affixes and power affixes don’t compete.

My suggestion was more like “for further timelines”, when we might get more and more timelines.

The current MoF system has so much potential to expand, not just into higher more “end-endgame” timelines. we could get a much “wider” range of timelines, maybe a lvl 60 timeline, a lvl 65 timeline, a lvl 70 timeline etc. I imagine it to be somekind of “web” of different timelines.

That is way too much for this topic here.

But yeah just increase “more” blessing slots (via more timelines)

I spent some time looking at many other builds. I think the unique to crafted ratio gearing is fine.

Other than maybe a bit of targeted farming for craftables, I don’t really care for my original post.

So there’s that.

If you were allowed to slot a few affix shards into the monolith to increase their drop rate/drop rate of items with those affixes I think it would be very useful.
