Just hit monos for the first time ever and massively overwhelmed on how to progress my gear. I hit res cap to finish the campaign - I just don’t know what to do next.
What are some good methods to identify what needs to be updated - besides all of it?
How do you decide what to replace starting out?
Well Its my first time with the game, I don’t use any guides so I made the build myself and I can so far do monoliths comfortably.
Resistances are the first obvious step, next I just run through it looking at my damage/ward/armor.
If I get one shotted often I know I gotta pump some armour or ward generation, if I don’t kill trash comfortably I gotta up my damage.
I play disintegrate runemaster so my focus is on damage over time/spell damage and so on.
I regularly use forge to see if I can upgrade my existing items, I also collect exalted with stats I need in hopes I can get a unique to melt Into a legendary.
Maybe of you’re really lost it’s a good idea to look up a guide for your class on max roll maybe. Not to copy it but to get an idea how they build it and what to look out for stat wise.

After I figure out the correct bases, and what affixes to add - do you just set up a filter and wait for things to appear?
Do you go look at specific gear and figure out which has the fewest amount of tiers and try to fix that first?
I’ve set up my loot filter just after finishing campaign. By this time I knew what affixes I want and this helps a ton with going through gear, at higher monoliths it just rains with items and you would spend more time looking through it than play it so definitely set one up.
Again, if you’re not sure, max roll have loot filters you can copy paste into the game and adjust it slightly of you need to.
With forging generally yes, I choose lowest tier affixes and try to up them first, unless I’m lacking in damage or defense them I’ll prioritise based on where I feel like I’m lacking
