Except it’s not the same old game. Last Epoch has a different and unique skill tree system.
People are interested in games similar to what to they have already played, But with somethings different. They aren’t always looking for a game that is entirely different.
But it does go to show how many people are interested in a type of game
There are a lot of people here waiting for the multiplayer. If it doesn’t deliver, they will leave. If multiplayer is just a bunch of solo players just rolling over the same content, it will die. There has to be some tangible benefit to playing multiplayer. It also needs to be something that doesn’t minimize the usefulness or solo play.
Players will leave no matter what. You cannot please everyone. Making any choice ever will split people. The balance comes in making a choice that pleases the most people.
Not really! It’s just the same core with a different UI.
Remember PoE and Wolcen both have the same Wheel of Fates or whatever it’s called.
That’s because there has been an ARPG title every 2-3 years…just one. There is a market for RPGs since many of us, like myself started off with Diablo 2 and that’s how we were born as gamers more or less. There are many fans of the genre looking for change and diversity, jumping ship every occasion.
I agree with Darkdeal. For me, multiplayer is essential. Teaming, and PvPing.
Exactly!
Being part of this Beta phase, equates to having already experience part of the game. How much more of the same will we be able to do after release?
For me personally one of the biggest points that would make multiplayer enjoyable, is actually playing TOGETHER. Fighting the same mobs, fighting the same boss, going back to town and sort out loot, going back and wander together through the levels.
Having skills that interact in a somewhat meaningful way with allies(heals, buffs, aggro).
Even if playing together might not be the “most efficient way” as long as the foundation allows real “group play” i am having fun.
Our all time favorite example PoE… everybody zooooms through the map and nobody actually interacting with each other and at teh end you meet at the boss and loot. That is no group play tha is enjoyable for me.
I understand why you feel that way, but honestly this skill tree feels different enough for me for where I don’t feel like i’m playing other arpgs.
Also even if this game doesn’t have the multiplayer that you and others want, in that case just go play a game that does (more than likely an MMO).
This game is for those who are interested in playing those Diablo style games and there is nothing wrong with that.
Agree about PoE. That is what I DON’T want in multiplayer in LE. Seems like a lot do want that, just not as fast paced.
Even dissecting what you are saying you want. You want multiplayer that requires cooperative play (mobs that need teamwork, even if it is just difficulty and not tactics.) You want skills that have uses for group play.
You even seem to somewhat agree that multiplayer can’t be some economy owning exploit like it is in PoE.
I don’t have friends. I don’t have people to play the game with. I don’t have the time to commit to a “guild”. I would just like mechanics that allow people to play multiplayer that don’t have friends that play the game. I quit WoW years ago because the entirety of the end game was guilds. Raids that take insane time investment. Getting left out because I didn’t meet arbitrary gear requirements. I enjoyed 5 mans. The PUG system was tedious there though.
If multiplayer in this game is just solo with friends. I won’t do it. I will get bored with this game and just jump over to PoE2 when it is released. If I am going to play a game that is pretty much just solo, at least PoE has the complexity to keep me interested for a long time.
Sir, this is not a game yet!
It’s a beta phase, very rough beta phase and we use forums to discuss the state of this product, provide suggestions and offer ideas is any are valid.
Doing my part more than simply abandoning something in which I’ve committed once I accepted the entry fee.
Can feel ya.
But devs already stated that there will be absolutly no content gated behind multiplayer. So i guess that is a very positive point from your point of view.
Everything else then is just “luxury” of multiplayer being fun and engaging, we will have to see how it turns out.
True, but this beta has already stepped in the path of diablo and seems too late to go back.
One of the great things about this game is the foundation built on the story. The time travel (similar to Chrono Trigger) opens up so many options. There can be so many different types of end game content.
I 100% do not agree that all content should be accessible to every player if they don’t want to participate in the way to access that content. I choose to not PvP. I hate PvP. It is unfun to me. I don’t think others should not be allowed to PvP because that “content” is gated behind being PvP.
I am all for content being gated behind certain playstyles. Make group play only bosses and zones. I have a problem with REWARDS being gated behind content. Especially if it is the best gear in the game being exclusive to ONE PLAYSTYLE. WoW best gear was the highest raid at the moment. Sorry, not everyone has the 3-4 hours and 39 other people to go raid for the chance to get the best gear in the game.
I miss the old puzzle ARPGs like Zelda and Alundra. I would like multiplayer in this game to have more puzzle elements so it requires more than one players. Bosses with mechanics that play on having multiple players. Like randomly warping one player back in time so they have to fight solo through a room to catch back up. Puzzles that require each person in the group to split up to stand on an unlock plate to open the door so the whole team can move on together.
People already want mechanics gated behind multiplayer, as evidenced by them wanting bosses to act differently in group play.
It’s never too late and we still have the protest option.
… a multitude of angry players marching on the streets until EHG listens to us!
Last Epoch UNION now!
Jokes aside, even if game features and systems have already been decided and are being worked upon as we speak, they can still tweak them and alter certain gameplay mechanics to better suit our needs.
However, I will not fight this more than offer my 2 cents. It’s up to the developers to prove a creative mindset.
That is a fair statement. 100% agree!
@EHG_Mike Already stated in an older thread regarding multiplayer that they might consider adding stuff like this, liek additional mechanics that are only present when there are multiple player, which is really alot more work that just scaling numbers, but it could enrich the MP exp sooo much.
LOL. RAGE in the streets!
