I’m sure you know this well OP, but today we can never be sure, so juuuuust in case you don’t know…
If it took you months to farm a legendary, you are doing it wrong.
If by “doing it wrong” you meant not buying it on the bazaar…
New player since 1.0, CoF faction, slightly over 4 days played total. I crafted my third Legendary on sunday 
The first two were lower level items, so I guess you could say this is my first T4 Julra level Legendary. Either way, it sure didn’t take months

LE doesn’t brick your uniques. At most, you don’t get the affixes you wanted and it’s the same as a 0LP item. That’s not bricked.
Bricked is like in PoE where you apply a vaal orb to an unique and suddenly you have a useless rare instead. Or you get an affix that is actually bad for your build.
Since in LE you have control over which 4 affixes can land on the unique, the only reason to ever brick a unique is if you try hard to do it.
