Game crashes on travel/ changing zones

Traveling by way point or through a door. The game crashes and a little “Unity crashed” window pops up. ( I don’t have a screen shot and it didn’t show up in the VOD)

Please reply and upload a dxdiag report. I’ll have a look and see if I can make any suggestions.

In the meantime, this could be caused by corrupted game files, which are resolved by verifying Steam game file integrity :slight_smile:

I should mention I was streaming at the time with OBS.
Chrome crashed 2 times during this as well
I did verify the game files.

I can safely say that I can NOT play with Google Chrome open.
I can play with no other apps running.
I reproduced the crash 3 times in a row by launching the game. Then launching Chrome.
I waited until the game was fully launched before opening Chrome.
I am unable to capture a screen shot of the tiny window that says Unity crashed.
I can play with OBS open as well.
The oddest thing to happen was my ad blocker also popped up on the last crash. I gave up because I had to reboot my system.
I have verified my game files multiple times now.

This is indicative of problematic (or stressed) hardware components or corrupted drivers. Most often, this would be a graphics card, but it could also be indicative of bad RAM, a CPU fault or overzealous overclocking. :slight_smile:

Two other things from the DxDiag jump out:

1.Your system RAM and page file

Memory: 32768MB RAM

This is a very large page file and quite full. The large used amount suggests something using a lot of memory, which has then had to be sent to disk. You may be able to find out the culprit using Task Manager and sorting by memory usage.

2.Your GTX 1050 TIs memory arrangement:

Display Memory: 20352 MB
Dedicated Memory: 4017 MB
Shared Memory: 16335 MB

These settings mean your computer will use up to 16GB of your 32GB installed system RAM if your graphics card doesn’t have enough memory.

In case you are unaware, modern web browser, such as Chrome, will use your graphics card to render web sites, so every open tab will also use graphics RAM. I can see you have multiple monitors. If you are running Last Epoch on one monitor and Chrome on another, you may find that any unoptimised parts of Last Epoch combined with Chrome’s usage of the card put just a little too much strain on your system. The card may have an undiagnosed fault, which only presents under high stress.

You also have a number of RADAR_PRE_LEAK errors in your DxDiag (with HZD, D4, Windows itself), which are indicative of memory leaks or issues. EHG fixed one in their last patch and I understand they have more they are investigating, so the situation may improve over time.

For what it’s worth, here are some things I would recommend investigating:

  • reduce the Last Epoch settings as much as you can to see if it increases your play time
  • consider whether your computer has enough power from the PSU for your operating load
  • run a system file integrity check
  • run a system hardware check and RAM test in case you have some faulty component or RAM
  • verify that your graphics card and RAM are seated correctly
  • re-install Chrome and/or OBS in case they have some corrupted file

I also hesitate to suggest it, but your mention of OBS suggests you are doing some streaming. For a streaming setup, you may need a better graphics card – a 1050 Ti is definitely on the lower end of the spectrum and it may just not have enough power.

The culprit

The above linked image is of my task manager. Last Epoch is using 80% of my ram.

Yeah. Ok. Wow.

9.5GB is quite a lot. Your computer configuration might be triggering specifically high memory usage or leaks.

That said, you are misreading the task manager - that number at top shows the total.

You have 32GB RAM according to DxDiag, so 9.5GB is nowhere near 80%.

If you click that memory column, it should sort and you can see what else is using the rest.
