Future Season Length Suggestion

Hello,
Been very impressed with the last three patches, and looking forward to getting back in to check out the new changes from the last three patches.

I was thinking ahead to the 1.0 release, and what length seasons or whatever they will be called will take. I would like to request 4+ months, with 6 being the ideal. I know this is potentially 12 months off, but wanted to throw my opinion out their in advance to this occurring.

Okay but like Path has 3-month seasons and the number of active players tanks after a months because it gets kinda stale.

Not suggesting 1-month seasons as that is far too much worth, or we’d get low quality, but like 6 months is far too long.

Yeah, given they currently take ~3 months to push out the current patches, I don’t think they’d be able to do decently-sized content in a single month.

I like 3 months mostly beacause it can stay out of PoE’s way. 6 would be way too long for me. As the game matures I see myself playing for 2-4 weeks most cycles.

I’m assuming three months as that seems to be the standard, but it would ultimately come down to what I think is entailed with a season/league/cycle.

Rolled a new acolyte last night and thoroughly enjoyed my time with the changes so far, hopefully they keep things going at this pace.

Given (at least as I’ve understood from Mike’s dev streams and other info dumps) the potential of ‘cycles’ being more than just one patch cycle gives me hope that we won’t run into the situation of continual abandoned content that others in the genre (you know who you are) just leave on the cutting room floor for the FOMO business model. Hopefully that means we can get at least more than 3 months at a time of solid narrative and content that feeds into itself to give us a satisfying reason to keep up with the game for longer than a weekend once every 3 months.

Because lemme tell you, the fact that the big boys in the industry just leave out things like final big bad boss fights or narrative ends of the patches they release (whilst completely culling the meat of certain patches for the worst parts of it, RIP Cavas. Cortex Bosses suck.) has gotten really reallly reallllly amateur.

Aside from recent events surrounding the game, I’m hopeful that LE not being free to play will give more flexibility in terms of the quality and consistency of the cycles/seasons we get. Of course that really depends on the greater player base adopting the game and EHG giving us quality MTX to keep development moving forward. The fact that so many of us YOLO’d into Wolcen and got duped, I’m sure LE will get a big boost of players at 1.0 release and if they nail multiplayer it’ll have a lasting first impression that a lot of AAA companies have fumbled on in recent years.
