So i was wondering is there an option to make a windows shortcut to launch fully offline mode without going to steam library. I use icons still (yes i’m old) and i don’t want to open steam every time. Maybe i can add some arg or something to it i don’t know.
Thanks for anyone that can help.
This would easily be solved if shortcut start would also ask you if you want online or always offline.
It shouldn’t. The offline client is fully offline (as opposed to the offline option when you connect online). So as long as you already launched it once via steam, everything should work fine.
I have the same issue. Full offline only works if I start it from my Steam library. A desktop shortcut will start the game normally, do an automatic login, and give me the choice between online and offline (not full offline). Adding -offline or --offline (in the box in Steam under launch settings) does nothing.
The --offline isn’t to be added to steam. You make a shortcut to the exe in windows, and in properties add that. It’s meant to work so you can have steam closed. I haven’t tested it, though, since I don’t play offline.
Where in that path should the “–offline” go? Tried it before and after the ending quotation mark, also with two and one dash, with neither working. I get an invalid path notification.
It should go after the quotation mark. And it should be two dashes.
This is something I read on reddit, not an official source, so it’s not confirmed. If it doesn’t work then it’s debunked and we need to wait for another solution from the devs.
I tried it just now. After the quotation marks, no space, just two dashes and offline. As JunHeadJoe said, it just returns an invalid path notification.
EDIT: There should be a blank space, and then it works. So add [space]–offline to after the quotation marks, and it starts in full offline mode.
Ah, I hadn’t thought to specify that. That feels like something people should know, but I forget not everyone is used to these things. Great that it works, then.
