FPS drop in Verdan Outskirts

I have huge FPS drops in Verdant Outscirts - from 45 to 15. Sometimes I have it too in other large maps, but in VO every time.
For me it seems like the issue has something to do with “boss like” mobs with a lot of effect. I usually teleport threw the map to finish the objective and I´m dragging them with me. But even if I kill them all the issue persists.
At the beginning of the map FPS is normal, but when I´m few screens in, the game is lag fest.

My normal FPS is 40-45

Hey, Welcome to the forums…

Preface: LE is in beta so there are plenty of performance related issues.

There are places and situations that cause FPS spikes - these are known issues for now… Doing lots of mob pulls like you describe is exactly one such issue that WILL cause FPS drops as each mob is doing pathing calculations to find you and the more mobs proccing skills at the same time the more the game will struggle… Sometimes if its really bad, the game struggles to “reset” after this happens and only on loading a new map does the performance go back to normal.

As you described, there are places/maps in the game that have FPS spikes… These usually get fixed by the devs with each subsequent patch if they can confirm that the problem is the map itself… They have fixed a lot of maps since the 0.7 patches… If you clear a map of mobs and then move around in that map as a test and it shows unexplanable fps spikes, then please take a screenshot of exactly where this happens and report it as a potential bug to be checked by the devs. It is important to establish if this happens generally anywhere or in very specific places in a specific map.

Another is using a build or being in a situation where there are lots of skills proccing on the screen at the same time. This can be with bosses or even just with normal mobs if there are enough of them… It can also happen if you use a build that has a lot of minions.

There is also obviously the capabilities of your hardware setup that need to be considered here and what resolution & settings you are using… I run an i5-7500/1060/16gb/NVME and I have found that the best setting for me (good fps, game stability & fps spike smoothing) is 1080p, 55-60fps framerate limited with all settings on very low or disabled… I can play with with faster fps or better visuals (not both) but it really is not worth the trade off in stability/fps spikes.

If you post your dxdiag and in-game settings, I can try and make some recommendation as to what you should expect from your hardware and what settings might be better for you to use to minimise the fps spikes.

Hello. Sorry if I told something what is know. Just wanted to write it here. I know it´s beta and I´m no mad. I love the game and I just wated to post here the bug which is for me kinda “game breaking”.

I´m capable to setup my game properly, but thanks. On laggy map I tried a lot of options in graphic menu and nothing help. Maybe next time I can try to find exact spot, but I don´t know. For me it´s just weird that even when there are no mobs on my screen FPS is still low. On other maps when there is a lot of stuff happening on the screen I have normal FPS drops, but it always goes back to normal when the battle is over.

I´m sure they will fix it!

No problem. Its just important to find out the detail of the problem else the developers will not be able to find it to fix.

I tried a quick run through the Verdant Outskirsts and I didnt get anything that caused such a big spike so if you find the exact place then definitely post it so that others can test.

Also… for your settings… the one thing that is the most important is the framerate limit - dont use vsync and dont leave the framerate unlimited… If you leave it unlimited (or too high) then the game can max out your GPU and this causes very big fps spikes… With the limit the spikes are still there, but not as big…
