Genuine question, what is the expected return for investing even one minute of effort in the forums? They are functional as is, the vast majority of the community ignores them entirely (and always will), and there are a host of other things that engineering time could be spent on.
I’m not trying to be rude. I really am curious how this became a priority over some other things. I want to know.
As someone who primarily uses the forum I can totally see where you are coming from.
But wouldn’t what you describe maybe even advocate for an upgrade of the forum? The question is, why do so many people do not use the forum? Maybe with enough effort and improvement this could be changed.
Also EHG always uses the forums for large scale news and dev blogs, because some of these things are hard to display on 3rd party platforms.
You will never get any majority onto any platform a game uses. But if there should be a main or a biggest platform for a game, why shouldn’t the devs try to make that the official forum?
I am cautiously optimistic, taht the forum upgrade migh give it a overhaul that makes it more appealing.
The reason the conversation doesn’t largely happen on the forum has next to nothing to do with the ‘quality’ of the site as an internet forum (which is completely fine btw). I don’t think one poster was thinking, I would love to post there but its so purple and typing into the text box is laborious.
It’s 2026. The conversation is happening on discord, it’s happening within private communities with people’s favorite streamers, it’s happening in build guides, youtube videos, and spreadsheets.
I don’t think many users are converting from being driven to the forum for a news/update post via reddit or steam news. But if EHG has data that says investing in this forum is the move I would just be curious to understand it. Because I can’t right now.
