I’m optimizing a Forged weapon build for the March 9th drop and wanted to clarify two things before I call the build complete.
Do forged weapons gain every affix stat from your equipped weapons? They seem to get every suffix. All the chance to [blank] suffix effects seem to work on them but what about the prefixes? Does attack speed scale them? They look like they attack faster but they attack so fast already it can be hard to track. What about if I have 100% melee damage prefix and 100% minion melee damage suffix. Do the forged weapons get 200% increased melee damage?
How good of a damage amplifier is armor shred? Currently it competes with around 200% increased minion melee/ dot damage in the suffix slot. With a low level armor shred affix my forged weapon unusually maintain 50-75 stacks. Fully turned they could probably maintain well over 100.
That is 5000-10000 armor shred but what does that actually mean? Does armor go negative like resistance shred making it effectively a more multiplier? How much average armor am I contending with?

So with that in mind, 12 forged weapons at 1 attack per second and a T5 armor shred suffix gives a maintained stack of 144 or 14400 armor shred which translates to a potential 80% physical and 56% non-physical more damage amp for hits on monsters with 0 armor. I assume this is most trash.
Bosses probably have around 5k or so which is still like a 65 / 45 split for damage amp on hits. Swords actually hit way faster than 1 hit per second so I’m probably looking at closer to 25k+ potential shred but DR hits so hard that even 14k is overkill.
80-60% more hit damage seems way better than 200% increased melee after looking at the rest of my increased totals.
They do get prefixes. This makes flat damage prefixes or attack speed prefixes ideal. Though with molten infusion even the flat affixes can end up getting washed out. But attack speed is very good.
Cool. Glad my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me then. As of now I think the BiS will be Obsidian Axe with melee damage - melee speed - armor shred - minion damage over time. I usually hybrid them since its easy to scale dot and hit together. They maintain like 250 ignites and 100 bleeds single target so DoT scaling is probably still worth.
