Forge Strike issue & questions .. skill feels strange atm anyone who can help?

So I saw Forge Strike and fell instantly in love with the skill since it reminded me how it felt playing Dominating Blow in Path of Exile.

I heavily invested into specializing to summon my weapon minions as well as making them apply bleed and ignite etc.

The skill itself has fairly high mana costs and a cooldown which you can remove by increasing its mana cost by 10. The big issue I have with this skill. Even after heavily investing into minion duration and summoning chance I rarely get max weapons out in a boss fight.

The mana limits the amount on how often I can use the skill and getting 1 weapon out per 1 hit feels just so awkward in boss fights. Like, I can basically hit 4 times and then have to wait until my mana is back (or use other skills). This means I can never summon the max amount of weapons atm in a boss fight even after having mana regen on all gear and in the tree. Having like 4-5 of 20+ weapons summoned is so strange to me.

Is there something that I´m missing? I´m only 50 atm but I don´t see any other options to make my weapons spawn faster or more reliable in single target fights.

Can anyone who has tried to play that skill tell me if there is a way to summon around 20+ weapons against a single target boss somehow?

If not, then I would instantly stop playing that skill cause this is just too many downsides and in the end it does not really do what I expected it to do and feels bad.

Even with 100% chance to summon a weapon I could still only summon as many as my mana allows hits right? so… how do you summon 20+ in a single target fight?

Try using trigger skills, like warpath or multi strike. My recommendation is multistrike’s heated forge node combined with self casting forge strike, it will get you max forge weapon summon easily.

Edit. Tested out multistrike and I hate switching between 2 skills all the time to summon weapons. Guess I trash the build. Forge Strike could have been nice but the summoning chance on single target is exactly what makes Dominating Blow in Path of Exile also unenjoyable to play. Too bad, maybe at some point they change it

Warpath summoning is way too slow, will never reach max stacks and you don´t regen mana, so its a useless skill with Forge Strike

Multistrike could have been good, but altering between 2 skills just to make the one work also feels kind of bad.

Not sure I get your sentiment here. What is it exactly that bugs you? The high mana cost of FS is you cannot spam it?

Because the second part - using MS get max weapons faster - is kind of mandatory, not only for spawning weapons. The high mana cost of FS makes you need to use a mana regen mechanic. Like regen mana on MS use (Sentinel passive - always forget the name).

You can do this with Smite, Vengeance and Rive, too. But the fact that you can use MS to spawn Weapons makes it perfect for your build.

What else are you using on your bar? You certainly have another 0 mana cost skill.

You can get mana back with the top left node in the tree. Also using giant splitter in combination with FS works fine. You manually cast FS while channeling WP, that also triggers the slash from giant splitter.

FS is defenitely not usable as a one button build. But you can make it really somewhat spammable with investment into mana efficiency and attack speed in combination with a fast mana generator like Rive or Vengeance. You can get you mana from 0 to max in approximately 2 seconds.

it’s not bad, I’ve been trying it out since the update and had fun but I guess 2 button build is not for you.
TBF a lot of builds in last epoch is 2 button build, high dps skill + secondary dps/mana generator skill

Yeah I noticed that as well. Kind of not my type of ARPG where I have to alter between stuff. I like to have one primary skill I use and then support skills like travel, defense etc.

I might have given up a bit to early, I don´t know how much mana regen you can get late game but for me the best scenario would have been to be able to spam FS and generate weapon minions that way.

Now… I did probably the worst thing and I changed all my skills to test out a different build and now my character is super weak and can barely kill anything. I think I just start over from scratch.

I wish I would knew how much mana regen you can get endgame. If you could sustain 32 mana skills that are spammable I would probably test FS again. But not sure. Don´t want to run in the same situation again where I have to alter between a 0 mana skill and a dmg skill. Hate that kind of playstyle, sorry
