Forge guard question plz help!

Hey guys I’m playing Forge Guard .
And have a question about what’s better to slam .
Adding block chance seems to add massive damage to my character because the 1.5% multiplier
But also adding block effectiveness adds damage 2 per 40 effectiveness.
So what better to slam into my horns of Uhkeiros
25-26% block chance or 1100-1300 block effectiveness?
Also if I go for effectiveness I’ll have lower block chance total and my shield give 2 mana per block .
Anyone know what increases damage more ?
If it’s around the same id want higher block chance to proc my mana Regen more .
Plz help if you know the answer!
Thanks :+1:

You should get more damage from effectiveness if you’re using shield bash because it’s flat damage. That being said, the nature of multipliers is such that if you have lots of 1 and few of the other it might be worth taking that one instead.
Examples:
-You have 1k effectiveness. Adding 500 effectiveness is a 50% increase.
-You have 5k effectiveness. Adding 500 is a 10% increase.
-You have 25% block chance. Adding 5% is a 16% increase.
-You have 75% block chance. Adding 5% is a 6% increase.
So it really depends on the values you have. But as I said, in general effectiveness tends to give a higher boost, unless you’re totally neglecting block chance.

Mana isn’t that big of an issue.

Helpful thanks , well I got the multiplier up to 150% block chance so I’m trying to get near that I suppose but impossible with the shield without adding the block chance to the shield.

My current shield adds 60% block chance
I’m at 103% chance just sitting 127% when I use buffs and skills
My block effectiveness is 4900 just sitting and hit 7300-8300 effectiveness just for a moment buffed.
I do run out of mana even with 17 mana Regen a second on bosses
But not for mapping .

I haven’t run into mana issues with my basher, but I’ll admit I’ve dropped him momentarily to start a new char (because of course I did :stuck_out_tongue:).

LETools actually says you have 102% block and 5046 effectiveness. So you’re at a point where increases are less noticeable and you might want to sacrifice a little for the QoL, so if you feel you get more out of the +2 mana, go ahead and take it.

Thanks for the replies and response .
I guess I’ll go for effectiveness till I run out of shields to slam if I fail them all switch to trying slam the block chances I have .

Also random question what do you think the max amount of endurance is possible over 60% threshold just theory crafting?

I honestly have no idea, but it shouldn’t be hard to test with LETools’ planner. Just make a new one, search the passives for it and add them all, add an item to each slot (preferably with that implicit, if available) and try to add that affix to it and see how much it shows.

Probably Druid or Beastmaster would be the best options for that.

I was just thinking shield storm if they removed the cap to it so could use face of the mountain stack like 200-300 endurance lol to get 200 + block chance would make forge guard a beast lol

Do you know if crushing blows is good or is it bait ?

No idea. My knowledge of LE mechanics is still pretty shallow. I mostly use already made builds and that is mostly due to a lack of time, so I just want to dive in without giving much thought into it.
I do pick up some stuff while doing it and on topics like this one, but you’re starting to go past my limits :stuck_out_tongue:

Someone like @Heavy or @Llama8 should be able to help you with that, since their knowledge is much more extensive.

Depends on the mana cost TBH. It’ll be more betterer for the larger slower attacks that cost more (obviously). TBH, respeccing passives is a pain (you have to respec each point individually) but it’s fairly cheap, so give it a go & see what it feels like for your expensive skills.

For example, if you’re using Forge Strike @ 25 mana then 0.5% = 12.5% more damage. It’s not a big number, but it is multiplicative which is always a good thing. I’d probably take it if I was going for a generator/spender type build but not if I were mainly using cheap/free skills.

Well so far I’m chilling at 310k damage on my forge guard and it spikes to 580k but when I’m bopping mobs it basically hits for 30-60k unless there weak against physical then could be more .
