For WASD, add option Movement Skills - Follow Mouse Except Evade

I really feel this would be the natural option for most. I’m currently using Short Range - Follow Movement, but short range mobility skills also include Rogue Shift, and Void Cleave, which absolutely i need to follow my mouse rather then movement. Evade however, should always need to follow movement to me.

Trying out rogue lately and I feel the same. This would be a huge QoL for WASD too.

I was very confused when i started a Rogue as well. Thankfuly, there is a new(?) node in Smoke Bomb where it makes you jump and turn the skill into a mobility skill. Thats what i switched cause i just couldn’t use Shift with that setup.

I also started a void knight, and realized Void Cleave is also a “short range” mobility skill and it follows movement which also feels wrong.

Honestly, at this point after reading so many different complaints about different issues with how WASD interact with certain skills, I feel like one of the best routes they could go is to just allow individual settings for each movement skill.

Yep, movement skills feel bad with WASD. I like your suggestion or they could even add another line/toggle just for evade: Follows Movement or Follows Cursor

I had no problems with the ‘short range’ option, while I was playing acolyte. but when I rolled a rogue and tried out Dancing Strikes, I was like “wtf is this!?” it feels so wonky, almost unplayable. But then if I switch to “follows cursor” it feels perfect, but then my evade is not how it should be.

I also like someone else’s suggestion of giving every movement skill it’s own setting option. I’m always pro options for settings like this, even if it doesn’t benefit/affect me in any way. There are many people who have different needs for all kinds of settings, whether it be because of a disability or just personal preference.

+1

I want only evade to follow WASD direction… I dont have enough fingers to WASD and press action buttons in the WASD direction (excelt spacebar/thumb/evade)

Right now I can only play WASD on characters with no short movement… aka primalist Fury Leap, necro…

Rogue-shift - shiting in bad directions, limited by WASD fixed directions
Druid Werabear rampage - unplayably ramping off in random directions, because when moving diagonally, i have to lift one of the fingers to press rampage, and then I’m rampaging in the wrong direction!

They either need to:

  1. add setting to the movement drop down “only EVADE follows movement direction”
  2. change it to have a choice for each category (evade, short range, long range) each settable to (movement direction, mouse) … I would set “Evade = movement direction” and the other two to “mouse”

Agree wholeheartedly. I’m trying to play Werebear and it feels awful. I just want it to be like PoE2 where I can:

  1. Evade/Dodgeroll with WASD and not worry about where my cursor is facing
  2. Aim my attack skills (INCLUDING MAUL) with my mouse cursor and not worry about where my character is facing

Currently I have to choose one or the other, and it’s bad enough that it makes me want to stop playing Werebear entirely until they give us the option to set EVADE to movement direction or mouse cursor independently of other skills.

The best thing they could’ve done is to not cave in to the “me want reee!” crowd and never implemented WASD. The second best thing they could’ve done is to tell the people they work on WASD and as soon as they have a version that works well they implement it.

Now we have a halfassed WASD version ingame noone should be happy with ^^. At least they most likely get a lot of feedback that way what is the only part that speaks for adding it into the game in the current state.

It doesn’t help that evade is occasionally buggy. I’ve had countless instances where my evade will go in a random direction regardless of movement or mouse position(which in my case are almost always the same anyway).
