Constant elevated sound of footsteps while running through the game is annoying. please let us toggle them off or remove them from the sound effects volume slider

I literally came here looking for this exact comment. Dear lord, the footsteps in this game are so loud and annoying. Basically like chains shuffling around everytime i walk. It seems that the sound effect is tied to wearing boots and chest armor. If you remove those slots the sound goes away. Please give us an option to turn that off, or just direct us to the registry entry where we can disable it.
Or give us mechanics where footsteps will be used. For example for stealth.
