Flurry Shenanigans

[ What does the bug affect? ]
Combat; Rogue; Flurry

A couple of oddities I’ve witnessed with Flurry is first of all a fluctuating attack interval—which does affect combat and thus reduces DPS and HPS depending on your build etc;

The second thing I found—which has miniscule impact on performance in comparison—while funnily enough trying to replicate the issue above is that you can desync the position of Flurry:

  1. Run in a direction
  2. Use Shift while running (let go of left click as you Shift)
  3. Immediately click to move as you land with Shift
  4. Immediately attack with Flurry after landing with Shift
  5. Profit;

Flurry Attack Interval

  • So far, I’ve not been able to replicate the attack interval issue.
I’ve tried most things based on backtracking on what I did prior to it happening:
    • Using Flurry after using Shift/moving haphazardly.
    • Remaining tabbed out of the game for lengthy periods.
(Gotta write this fancy-looking bug report after all)
    • Teleporting to another map did not cause the issue.
    • Intentionally dying to an enemy did not cause the issue.
    • Removing/allocating skill specialization points did not cause the issue.
    • Exiting to character selection and logging back in did not cause the issue.
    • Exiting to character selection and logging in on 1-3 other characters then back to the relevant character did not cause the issue.
  • My latency at the time of recording the video was 46 ms.

Right now I assume it might have to do something with either:

  1. How long you have been playing the current session?
  2. Something to do with the character getting stunned?
  3. Something to do with the character getting slowed?

I have no consistent way to test the last two and especially not getting stunned and slowed simultaneously, so it’s only a suspicion.

I’ll keep an eye out and try to narrow down the issue unless it’s already known.

Shift desyncing Flurry

  • The steps to reproduce the desynced Flurry position are listed before the video.
  • My latency at the time of recording the video was 49 ms.

Flurry Attack Interval

  • Teleporting to another map did not fix Flurry’s attack interval, instead it was stuck on attacking slowly.
  • Restarting the game reset Flurry’s attack interval back to rapid attacks and is so far the only way I know that fixes it.

[ Relevant character info at the time of encountering the bug ]

  • Class: Rogue
  • Level: 20
  • Increased Melee Attack Speed: 98%
  • Movement Speed: 36% (86% after using Shift)

I think this is likely what I’m experiencing also. I’m running flurry multishot. For me it’s related to how long the game is open.

If I open the game and go straight into an echo, damage is very low, mutlishot should be auto proccing from flurry but does so very infrequently. If I leave the game running for at least 20 minutes, then damage is normal.

I go from killing elites in 250 corruption in 8 seconds to 1-2 seconds. So it’s roughly reducing my damage 4 fold.

I work around this by basically launching the game early in the day and not closing it until I’m done playing games for the day, this means running it passively in the background constantly which doesn’t really impact my performance on other games noticeably but is a less than ideal situation.

I have a clip from where I booted up the game went into an echo, killed some creeps and an elite then stood on the same spot, 3 hours later I come back to it, my damage is completely normal and I have another clip showing this, it all takes place in the same echo with the same active modifiers running.

I assume it’s related to background processes for the game taking a long time to finish completing whatever calculations they need to do, and it interrupting the damage tick calculations that should be happening.

There are less processes on my computer running when I first start the game also, so it’s likely not related to load on my GPU or CPU.

Hello I’ve experienced this as well with my flurry multishot build. I’ve taken some video footage in game and linked my log file here. I don’t see a convenient way to upload the videos, so I’ll hold off unless they are useful to you.

I haven’t noticed quite as in depth as the posts above. I mainly notice it after playing the game for several hours at 200+ corruption. It seems to happen more frequently after playing for a long time.
