With the various new Woven enemies, Champions, and Possession effects, it’s getting really, really hard to tell what’s going on in a fight. Particularly, since so many effects are designed to work as area-denial by moving about the floor (or just claiming a large zone as the telegraph to a nasty attack, when an enemy isn’t shot-gunning stuff again).
It sure looks really cool, but when you’ve got more than a handful of enemies on the screen, particularly the Woven, it becomes downright impossible to tell what’s going on.
Since Update 1.2, I’ve died in more echoes due to the following than I care to mention:
- Not being able to see a telegraph because of too many concurrent or overlapping effects.
- Telegraphs that clip through the walls of a Tomb of the Erased, making it largely invisible.
- That damned (hah) 0.7s telegraph you get on the Necrotic Beam effect of the “Possessed by an Erased Witch” thing, which also has an annoyingly short cool-down for how rapidly it hits.
- Whatever the “Erased Alchemist” possession keeps doing, which from what little sense I’ve been able to make of the skill bar icons, can inflict a bunch of debuffs with little to no obvious telgraph (and drastically increase damage taken).
- Possessed Champions layering three or four different floor-based effects at once.
- My minions deciding to blow up yet another silken cocoon, because apparently I wasn’t having enough “fun” trying to evade all this stuff already.
tl;dr: I get that some of my defenses could be better (I am trying to find improved gear), but holy crap, guys, can we maybe tone things down just a little bit? It’s getting to the point where I’m actively avoiding most of the new features in this update because of it.
