Hi, started playing the game a couple of days ago and have been having a blast, even when I died(hc) to Lagon.
Anyway, started playing a mage and I thought that Flame Ward would no longer trigger Preparation after I took Fortification since it would no longer retaliate and therefor do no damage, considering Teleport doesn’t trigger it and is still a spell.
Seems I was mistaken and Flame Ward even still has a tooltip dps even though it does no damage.
Is this intended or is it something that might get changed?

‘Preparation’ still gets triggered from ‘Flameward’ because the wording is “… next spell…” and ‘Flameward’ has the spell-tag. Most interactions like this rely on how the specific skills are tagged. Be it damage scaling. proccing other skills, etc.
And yet Teleport has the “spell” tag as well but doesn’t trigger it. I’m guessing travel skills are an exception.
sry my bad, i overlooked that the correct wording is “…next elemental spell…” so since Teleport isn’t tagged as spell and either fire, cold, or lightning it won’t trigger Preperation.
Ah, I missed the “elemental” part, thx for explaining it.
