Warning: Here comes a wall!
In Last Epoch, you can basically play whatever you want and aren’t tied to any stupid metas you might not want. You’re only limited if you want to play HC, because you’ll simply have problems surviving with many classes unless you have very specialized gear. While, for example, a Paladin can tank almost anything even with crappy gear. I’ve now tested it in SC with a pure melee Rogue build and let myself be targeted by abilities. 9 out of 10 abilities can kill you in one hit, and 7 out of 9 abilities currently do that for me 60 percent of the time. Elemental damage, in particular, has a high potential to kill you instantly, or so quickly that you need Terminator-like reflexes to even squeeze the healing potion. So, in HC, you won’t even get to the point where you get the gear you need to survive, because by then you’ve already died 100 times. But in SC, of course, it doesn’t matter, and you can play anything there. The problem with individual classes surviving has always been a problem in LE, too. It’s been since the start of the EA in 2019. Other points that could be improved, from the first playthrough of the new season:
-
Occasionally, skills don’t work on mouse buttons, and the only thing that helps is deleting and reassigning the ability.
-
Maps always completely reset whenever you port to sell or move from one map to the next. I’d also like a system where a map persists for 10 minutes and I can reset it manually.
-
Move when you click on something in your inventory is annoying.
-
When you log in again, you don’t start in the middle of the city, but always at the very beginning of the map. Depending on the city, this means a really long walk before you get to a teleporter or your chest, etc.
-
Not having to walk across the entire map every time you die. This can be extremely annoying when you’re standing in front of enemies who kill you with almost every attack you don’t dodge, and then you have to walk 1-2 minutes to the action each time. And maybe 8-10 times in a row if things are going badly, even though I know why they do it that way. So
In HC you maybe come with some classes never to the point, where you can survive, because your dead beforw this point.
-And as I already wrote, survivability has always been a problem in LE, depending on your class and skill set. For example, if you’re a melee fighter fighting against a horde of ranged fighters dealing elemental damage, they’ll take you out faster than you can get within range. And you need special gear to survive that well.
Those were the first things I noticed during the campaign… I haven’t played0 endgame yet to tell something about that in S2.
