I’ve enjoyed the 100 hours of playing lighting Sorcerer, minion army Necromancer and poison reaper Lich. I have start a bow Rogue.
I’ll start with a few minor cons. I don’t enjoy the Lagon fight. Very different dynamics than every other fight and so far, only my poison reaper Lich has made it past that event.
Drain Life has an odd graphical presentation. Additionally, sometimes the attack graphic sticks on the screen.
Two crashes; one while playing sorcerer and one logon hang up.
Thank you for some great quality of life features. I like the fast respawn after death. This keeps gameplay moving. Waypoints are plentiful and are a good mechanic.
Minimap is helpful. When I tab for the big map, I need a big map of the entire level. Not a blow up of the mini map. I’m looking for areas I haven’t been to. All greens, purples and legendaries should show a star on the minimap. On the “M” map function; thanks for the quest markers and cursoring over the tab reveals what quests are active.
The descriptors of the items are not always clear or helpful. Move the item info tab off item when the cursor is over the item. Currently, the tabs blocks the items and in some cases the entire inventory.
Crafting, meh. Look to Warframe as a model on how weapons and gear can be modified.
The most annoying part of both Warframe and D3 is grinding that one item to complete the perfect build. In D3 it’s the actual set piece and Warframe it’s the card that will take 60 hours of grinding to obtain.
You’ve got some great YouTubers out there. Help them. I watch them for certain builds and playstyles I like to see. On this thought, enable the player to quickly change points to a new build and save it.
I appreciate the multiple tabs for inventory. I need some help for inventory management. My first few tabs are low level items, then it phases into idols and legendaries on multiple separated tabs.
Overall, I think most drops are trash and rarely seem to be something my character would use. I’m getting to the point where all drops are ignored on my level 60+ characters. This is an issue in the genre. A loot display filter is a way of hiding a poorly functioning system. “nothing to see, move along”. Now if minions could pick up and utilize drops to the players benefit, now you have something genre defining.
Risk v reward. For echoes, maybe not claiming a chest over consecutive map sessions increases it rewards. I have a lot of duplicative legendaries; maybe a mechanic to exchange them into something else.
Graphics. Fire arrows or lightning bolts flying down dark tunnels should light them up revealing what’s in store for the players.
Level design. Since I play a lot of ranged characters, I prefer east-west type maps to take advantage of distance.
In summary, I’ve really enjoyed the time I’ve spent in game. Art, story, sound are pretty good. The ARPG genre is well defined, don’t be afraid to re-imagine a feature to become genre defining.
