Fire Shield - Warding does not work (or is misleading)

Issue:
The Fire Shield - Warding mastery says “Grants 5 additional ward generated per second”, however, I don’t get 5 ward per second.
The Fire shield skill lasts 14 seconds (I have Plasma shield so it only lasts 10 seconds). However, when I cast Fire Shield, the Warding mastery seems to only apply once. (Please note I get about 10 mana from other masteries/items for getting ward on mana expendature). I feel like the description of Warding means I should get 5 ward per second for the duration of fire shield. So I should get 5*10 = 50 ward, but I seem to only get about 5. Edit - Additional bug(?) found on Plasma Shield

The plasma Shield passive gives 40% increased lightning damage. However, when I don’t have fire shield on, my DPS is about 2K higher than when it’s on which makes very little sense to me. Not sure if it’s a bug or if I’m just not understanding properly

That is how it should work, but ward decays over time, so you’re going to be getting that ward but it won’t last long.

But if I get 5 per second (for 10 seconds), which includes decay, shouldn’t the bar go something like

  • On cast: 10-15 ward (instantly)
  • 0-1 seconds after cast: decay to probably 13-14
  • 1 second after cast: jump from 13-18
  • 1-2 seconds after cast: decay to 15
  • exactly 2 seconds after cast: Jump 15-20
  • … decay to 17
  • jump 17-22
so on and so forth for 10 seconds.

I feel like I should see jumps of 5 each second, then it slowly decays for 1 second, then jumps again.
That’s how I interpret “5 ward generated per second”

It depends how much ward retention you have, that’ll slow down the decay, but yes, it would look something like what you describe.
