Filter Idea - Filter relative to equipped items

Hi everyone,

I picked up LE earlier this week and I’ve been having a blast with it! I really appreciate that the loot filter system is in-game and has an easy to use GUI, but one thing that I thought would be an especially helpful addition to it is being able to filter on criteria relative to your own gear.

For example, I’m playing a Necromancer and I have a filter that emphasizes gear with minion affixes, as well as items with the Intelligence prefix (since I like to keep my Intelligence high since my minions’ damage scales with it). An issue I’ve found is that I find a lot of emphasized items that have minion affixes, but that would drop my Intelligence by several points.

What I’m suggesting is an additional filter that I could add to my rule that adds the programatic requirement of Item Intelligence Bonus >= Equipped Item Intelligence Bonus (comparing it to the same slot, of course, so a dropped helmet would compare to my equipped helmet, etc).

Sorry ahead of time if there’s already a way to accomplish this in game and I just missed it!

Welcome to Eterra!

And there is a way (albeit somewhat clunky) to filter items based on what you currently have equipped. You’d have to manually update your filter, though that part is very simple.

Here is a reference I will be using to guide the process quite simply.

I’m assuming firstly you’d filter each item slot individually, as in having chests in one line, helms in another line, etc. This allows you to be very specific with the affix tiers of each slot you need. This can be done like what I’ve done in the first image having a filter for item type along with affixes.

The second thing you’ll need is check the box I’ve circled in the first image to open the Advanced Options up for the affix tiers. The second image will guide the rest.

The #1 box will determine the number of affixes, so if what you currently have has 2 good affixes but not at great tiers, I would recommend setting this to “2”.

The #2 box will determine the tier of each affix on the item. If you have an item with 2 desirable affixes at T3 and T2, you may want to keep this on “Equal or greater than”, followed by “3” in the box that will appear to the side.

The #3 box will determine the total tiers of the affixes listed in the filter, or desirable affixes. For example, if an item drops with T2 - T3 - T1 - T5, but the only affixes that match your filter are the T1 and T5, this would be a T6 item according to this box. This one you can mostly leave alone, unless you want to specify that you only want items to be emphasized/shown/recolored to have a total desirable affix tier of a certain amount.

I would recommend either editing #2 or #3, but usually not both. There is a case where using both is useful, but unless you really want to get into the nitty-gritty of item filtering in this game, you can just pick one of those and run with it. You probably do want to be changing #1 though, especially if you’re choosing to edit #2 instead of #3.

This is probably waaay more in depth or specific than you asked for, but I do enjoy the filtering system of this game quite a lot, though there could be some useful additions.
