Feeling underpowered, dropping nothing, don't know what to do

Just the third character. I started pre-launch. CoF changed nothing for me. I have a belt, amulet, weapon, relic and a ring from level 40-50, nothing ever dropped for me for these slots.

So I take it CoF sucks? Can you change it to the other one?

So basically I check a build guide, check the base item types, look them up in the database, and find where the mob types that drop it are? Thing is I can’t even do empowered monos despite doing everything seemingly right.

So you have to use the kinda broken ward mechanics to play this game? Anything without ward is not playable?

You can change on any of the characters and you don’t lose progress on any since its shared.

For my 1st 1.0 character, I’m running a pre-1.0 Paladin build I found on LETools, picked it because it doesn’t require any uniques. It’s ok, but has slow clear speed compared to the healing hands builds I watch others play.

Drops could be better. So far I’ve crafted all my gear and doing 100 corruption now with level 85 character and beat a couple of the empowered monolith bosses. Even with level 7 CoF, I don’t get drops particularly good for my character, but the double XP and double shard drops are really nice. I’ve busted a lot of gear for crafting shards and just plodding along. Personally, I don’t care much about speed, but am really tempted to respec into Healing Hands. My build works, but after watching how those HH builds perform, it’s getting discouraging to play this Paladin.

I figure I still have a way to go before a lot of T7’s start to drop and I don’t need them right now anyway. My plan is to farm Prophesies for now and then start a Warlock.

A couple more comments: The best Paladin armor I find needs level 86 to equip, so I’m not expecting to push corruption until I have a few more levels. I don’t know anything about druid, but level 82 possibly needs more XP to be reliable.
As for drops, I have 4 pages of Sentinel idols (not counting the ones I threw away) and have exactly 1 that is for my build. So my advice to OP is to temper your expectations, or just play the broken build.

If you are struggling in corruption, go back to unempowered and gain some levels. Lvl 90 monos still drop everything that could be an upgrade for you. Playing a broken build might have skewed your expectations. Corruption is a huge increase in difficulty and your druid is only lvl 82. Used to be in beta that was okay but they changed corruption at release as well as drop rates. So you might have to farm the lvl 90s a couple days before actually going to empowered.

That’s EXACTLY how the game makes me feel ALL THE TIME. I know I’m being paranoid but I sometimes I could swear there’s algorithm that reads my builds and scuffs the drop rates.

That was helpful, thanks. I thought I should collect all the blessings first.

I feel you on Necro. My best friend and his kid both play Sentinels and when they play with my minion necro, they say it’s not fun since pets seem to be hilariously overpowered for the first half of the game. They just follow me while I kill all the things.

I’m 82 and agree with the loot comments. I was CoF and would just leave uniques on the ground. All the loot-splosions in the world are meaningless if you never get the bloody item you actually want. Might as well just be blues. Conversely, I swapped to Merchants last night, and got an Aarons Will in the bazaar in under two hours. It’s maddening.

I can’t speak to empowered mono’s yet, but I beat the 85 island with no issue at 79.

I can’t switch to Merchants because all my gear is tagged as CoF. And it’s not like the game showers you with replacements.

After about 20 hours of zero drops, I just got a thing that might have been a slight upgrade on one of my forgotten-for-35-levels slots. And guess what. 30 CP gone in two crafts, item bricked.

Just an opinion but the loot system here is stupidly unforgiving. How am I supposed to progress if the game doesn’t let me progress?

That’s gotta be it for me, folks, fun game but - after spending dozens of hours and ending up up with two bricked characters - evidently not for me.

I feel you. I hate crafting personally, I just want the item. Farm x boss for y item and its a z% chance…done.

I lost half my gear in the swap, but I just used a couple yellows to muscle through for a couple hours. Frankly, I don’t see the logic in locking gear with a particular faction. Seems losing all your currency when you swap is punishment enough. I lost over 30k CoF currency when I swapped, I can’t wear the gear now either? Eff out of here with that mess.

This is going to be the game my friends an I play for a while, but there does seem to be around 10 layers of overcomplication put in place in between “Kill things” and “get gear”.

What build? If you use any skill that triggers Healign Hands you can facetank the world almost naked.

Well in a nutshell: Petbuilds are strong. Ward builds are strong. For everything else you need some skill and brain capacity and experience to get it done. Not saying you are bad or whatever but it’s a whole other beast to tackle if you don’t go for the strong builds.

If that build is legit as you are stup ingame you should be fine so it looks like a skill issue or a knowledge issue… sorry. The numbers of the build seem legit.

Nova hammers.

Yeah, I’m kinda pissed at maxroll.gg. Why are they rating dog builds as S or A tier?

Dude, I did speedruns in Grim Dawn. I was top 10 in the world in Crucible for a while. Maybe I suck at this game, IDK, but come on.

If you say the numbers are right, what is the knowledge issue I’m having?

On your skill trees are you searching for the word ‘More’ and prioritizing those nodes?

It’s a different mindset on drops with this game. You’re rarely going to find the perfect item drop for you. You have to find the perfect item that gives you a chance to craft it into the perfect item. And before that, you have to find the perfect item to craft into something that reasonably fits into your build. You guys may need to adjust your loot filter if you’re not finding drops.

I kind of said it in world chat. Your grinding for a chance to grind a harder grind. Like rolling a NAT 1 5 times in a row. It aint happening with CoF

I don’t understand people complaining about grinding on an ARPG… Isn’t that like… all ARPGs?

Not really no. Old school arpgs had predetermined loot tables where you farmed the boss for the gear drop, and once it dropped you where done. You would just attach affixes and prefixes yourself. All gear was deterministic.

LE only has a few item bases, and then use rng to make varients on said gear. The new system is inferior as it is just lazy development. Takes a lot more effort to hand craft all combinations and permutations of gear for every play sfyle. That is what makes a great arpg from a mediocre one

Yes I know. I ran more baal runs than I care to admit. That was a grind too.

IDK about “people” but I don’t complain about the grind. I complain about shutting me off from the grind with dogshit rng and balancing of non-toptier setups. I literally can’t get the blessings from empowered monos. I rock gear from lvl 40-50 on a lvl 85 toon because nothing ever drops.

Damn right. Now I know that. Nobody told me that COF would brick your build. Pardon me but not being able to switch factions without bricking all your gear is total bullshit.

LE was supposed to welcome experimenting on your own, wasn’t it?

I gotta agree with this. IMO the goat aRPG was Grim Dawn which abandoned the D2 system of everything having random lines. Most endgame gear was “unique” with pre-determined stats. Random affixes on “non-unique” items were groups of stats bunched up in a way that made sense. Much of your power came from how you developed your skill points and devotions, not just how lucky you are with drops (this is sth I don’t really like in LE - a maxed out passive node often gives less power that a single affix on gear - you can’t do shit if you don’t drop good gear). And there were crutches like faction gear or early game target farms that helped with progressing to early endgame even without getting lucky with drops. You could collect every passive bonus in the game and farm early endgame in faction gear or so called “budget setups” if you knew what you were doing.

Maybe I don’t know what I’m doing in LE. I did the campaign, I empowered the monos (with pain), and now I’m stuck. 10 hours of unempowered monos, some arena and dungeons, gained a few levels - nothing changed, nothing dropped, still stuck. This progression curve, maybe others experience it differently (and so did I on my first toon the necro), but to me it just sucks.

If I knew I would tell you. I’m realy sorry for people who struggle. My point of view after 3k hours in the game is simply different so I have a hard time how people struggle with the content in this game because it’s pisspoor easy untill corruption 300. I realy struggle and can’t say “Your build suxx” when your build is setup rather well.

All I can say is “There is another problem.”. Most likely the problem is as follows… if you don’t run arround looking like a headless chicken to dodge everything aimed at your way and use your skills so the outer parts of said skills hit you gonna be messed up in LE. Or just play a ward build because Ward is on the strong side of things offereng 10X the eHP of a non ward build ^^.

I realy don’t wat to piss you of, I don’t want to pissoff anyone, but right now the game is in a very terrible state and the devs don’t do anything against it because of their flawed patch strategy. They don’t even fix bugs that make builds completely broken.

For Maxroll… they announced builds to be S or A tier that are in theory S or A tier but right now you can simply say Ward stacking Lock is S tier, Falconer and Ward stacking Pala are A tier and everything else is C or D tier according to the power of the S tier Lock. It’s not Maxrolls fault but a design descission fault on EHG’s side that leave their playerbace in this balance shithole they created.

So you right now play a build that is very demanding while others play some builds that demands no almost no skill and they can facetank the world. I intentionaly stay away from this classes for now and play a Shaman just to get away from steamrolling content.

I just got done playing for 2 hours. I am level 89. In those 2 hours alone, I got 3 upgrades. Straight up. Did I find the perfect drops? No. Did I have to craft? Yes. Did they turn out perfect? Nope. But they were still upgrades. Just straight up figure out what you’re doing wrong instead of blaming the game. Because apparently we play very different games. I can’t count the amount of times I changed gears ever since I entered monoliths. You’re doing something wrong, plain and simple.

Up to lvl 90 we all got upgrades, the problem is based on class types. For Acolyte, most of the items [gonna say like 70%] are for Necromancer, 25% for lich, and then 5% for warlock, almost all my gear for warlock came from soulfire bastion. Because the gear is unusable

If your playing a spec that the devs have rail roaded you will be fine, eg: ice warlock, poison, necrotic. Try to do fire based, you got problems, how about the mythical Shock Lock? Have you ever heard of it? Or acid whip lock? No because while you can make it work, one needs 5 exalted items, the other requires 4 3LP items, locked behind tier 4 soulfire bastion, one of the worst dungeons to run.

Same applies for classes. Some classes just have much easier to drop gear [mage, void knight] as you can see in Database by item rarity. You pick void knight, you could be done in about 5 hours, but pick Forgeguard, your gonna be farming for 6000 hours and not find a single useful thing.
