Feedback & suggestions after 90+ hours

Improve : Reduce resource consumption
With a GTX1080, at 4K I need to set all options on low to be able to enjoy the gaming experience. Not all players shall accept it.

Keep : Reshade compatibility
This game is compatible with Reshade, and it’s great. It helps to sharpen textures and recolor the game.

Improve : Item Drag & Drop
The first annoying thing I noticed when playing is how hard it is to manually move items in the inventory or in the chest, because the drag & drop is not enough precise. There is room for improvement.

Improve : Auto-organize chest
Very often, when clicking on the organize button of the chest, we end up with an empty line on the right, whereas it could be more balanced to keep two columns free as much as possible, for most items (2h weapons, armors, boots, …etc.)

Improve : Auto-collect shards by walking on them
Clicking on shards to collect them is not carpal tunnel friendly. Please apply the same behavior that we have with potions, meaning auto collect when we walk on them.

Improve : Auto-send shards to the forge
One of the first mistakes I made when playing was to store the shards in my chest. It was several dozens of hours later that I noticed a button to send shards to the forge. But before that, I was unable to use the forge and did not understand why. This is due to a poor game design. The collected shards should be automatically sent to the forge.

Improve : Portals
You need to set a portal on each zone appearing on the map. Or else we search the portal for nothing. Otherwise, use some UX to indicate there no portal thus there is no need for the player to search one.

Improve : Idols
The game deserve more esoteric idols. More crazy powers. Think them as extra-items with no slot restrictions. For end-game idols, I want to be granted skills from other classes, or some mastery points. Well, why not directly store items in the Idols space, to apply their powers on you ? In addition, the space reserved for idols has to be extended.

Keep : Great music
One of the best I heard for this kind of game.

Keep : Great Passive builds
My favorites builds are passive ones, with special mentions for Warpath & Wandering Spirits. They are carpal tunnel friendly, and brainless when it comes to play. They allow me to enjoy the game during long hours (10+ hours). I really appreciate such builds exist.

Improve : Activate / Deactivate Key
Wandering Spirits, on the contrary of Warpath, is not a movement skill. While we can numlock Wandering Spirits, there is currently no way to numlock the force move key. I surely can tell my finger to remain pressed on the force move key for 10 hours, but honestly at some point there is some pain involved in the game experience, and it sucks. Ideally, Last Epoch would, in the key bindings menu, after each line, propose to the player a checkbox “Activate/Deactivate on keypressed”. This way, when I click on “A”, bound to action “force move”, my character moves continuously, until I press again “A” to stop it. If I click again on “A”, it starts again to move. Great for long sessions of Wandering Spirits when you just have to move your mouse key and the character follows the cursor. With this setup I could play twice more. Having such an option would not only be carpal tunnel / fingers friendly, but would also be a great alternative to the numlock system, which is tricky to activate / deactivate for PC players (as it is a combination of keys, it can miss sometimes). Also, the numlock trick does not exists for console players, which creates a gap between PC and console players. That’s why I think Last Epoch should embrace the activate/deactivate Key system, directly in the game.

On Acolyte skills

Improve : Wandering Spirit synergies
Currently, Wandering Spirit has limited synergies, not adapted to passive builds which require few actions and lots of movement. I suggest for some skills to reserve a node : “Now wandering Spirits can use this skill”. This way we could have Harvest Spirits, Marrow Shards Spirits, Corpse Explosion Spirits, Aura of Decay Spirits, Reaper Spirits, …etc. It would improve build diversity and cross skills playing.

Improve : Drain Life as passive
Currently, a passive build based on Wandering Spirits cannot make a good usage on Drain Life. To use Drain Life you need either to cast it (but ennemies move and it slows you down, which means you die) or to stop moving to channel it (which means you die). We need a node compatible with the passive Wandering Spirits build. I suggest a node to make Drain Life somehow passive, for ex in the form of an Aura around you, or a movement skill ala Warpath, or in the form of an Aura applied to your Wandering Spirits. That could be very fun.

Improve : Wandering Spirits boosters
Most of Acolyte items boost minions, but litteraly zero of them boost Wandering Spirits. Some items could improve discovery rate (to increase playability of speed builds), greatly improve Spirits movement (to not always rely on poison projectiles), boost the size and reach of Spirits (same idea), or change the type of elemental damage (Bleed Spirits ?). It would improve build diversity.

Improve : Wandering Spirits + Melee
It could be fun to boost Wandering Spirits base attack with Melee damage. In addition, if you create Bleed Spirits & Marrow Shards Spirits, we could use the Undisputed Axe to improve damage on bleeding ennemies. You could also use Humming Bee on early game to increase attack speed.

Improve : Dual Wielding Acolyte
I want to be able to use two wands, or a wand and a melee weapon. Because fun.

Overhaul : Transplant skill tree
Currently Transplant skills tree feels useless. I expected this skill to boost at least movement. We need nodes to reduce cooldown, increase the number of stored charges (double move), increase the traveled distance, increase the movement speed after usage. We also need protection nodes : Leech ennemies health on the traveled path, increase life regen during x seconds after usage, bone shield granted after usage. Some nodes could cost Life or Shield instead of Mana, to increase action rate at the risk of dying. Blood Rush & Trag’oul set can be good source of inspiration to re-design the whole skill tree.

With MP there will be some kind of ingame auction house and many people mentioned they don’t want the shards to be send into the stroge tab because they want easy access to shards they want to sell. Something along these lines ^^. Personaly I wont mind it they went into the storage by default but many people might get confussed to “loose” loot this way :D.

Come on you have aoe pickup for these. Sure it would save a lot of time but if you get problems with your carpian tunnels from picking up shards I want to have your droprates instead of mine ^^.

You might run into some issues with that in the future. The devs already mentioned they’ll overhaul skills that are autocastable because if skills are autocastable it’s a design flaw in their eyes. Maybe you’ll run into issues at some point in the future but who knows?

You know there are builds where wandering spirits deals hundrets of thousands of dmg? Just asking :).

Yeah dual wielding diversity is kind of a problem ^^.

Nice feedback after all keep it coming :).

Or they give us an easier way to get the shards out to put them on the AH en masse.

“Carpal”, not “carpian”.

Yeah dual wielding diversity is kind of a problem ^^.

To be honest I don’t mind Acolyte not having dual wield. I don’t want all the classes to do the exact same thing as every other class; gives some diversity.

But do people feel they loose loot when picking gold and potions ?

When you walk into gold, it goes into gold storage
When you walk into potions, it goes into potion storage
When you walk into shard, it goes into shard storage

That would be logical.

Shards have fixed characteristics.
Shard price can be automated.
Shard auction can be automated.

It’s not like items which have variable characteristics that justify differences in pricing.

You still need to click on one of them. In addition to carpal tunnel problems, it is super hard to click on shards when you have an moving ability like Warpath numlocked. Just try and you’ll see you miss 9 times out of 10 to pick the shard. That’s why applying the same behavior on shards as we currently have on gold and potions feels the way to go.

Unless Acolyte has only one arm, I don’t see why it could not physically use two wands :stuck_out_tongue:
Currently wands are weak and all players prefer to use a staff to maximize damage output.

Well from what I see there is one unique build : Poison projectile. That’s all.
I’d like more options

Fun fact: Be glad I’m no dev because if I were a Dev you couldn’t pick stuff up while using a skill ^^. To me it looks like everything you want is tarted to benefit a speedmeta so I object pretty much but keep quiet :). Mabe some other people might have different oppinions on that as well. let’s see :).

Here’s a build I use for running Echos superfast. It uses Aura of Decay and Wandering Spirits and you dont press any buttons unless a boss comes up.

Its one of the best if not the best build in the game for running echos quickly. All you gotta do is run to the end with almost permahaste and (almost) everything behind you dies automatically.

Can’t you grab a bottle of water while running ?

Your build is not complete, it misses Reaper and Death Seal.
With Reaper and Death Seal you can do 20x the damage, up to 1 200 000, at Level 77.

Of course Death Seal is for damage peak, but Reaper backed by Aura of Decay allow you to stay in the Reaper form quite long, so at least you still benefit the damage buff given by Reaper while only running. In addition, I’d suggest to use Damage Over Time idols & gloves, as they buff Wandering Spirits a lot. But it is a tradeoff VS Ward, I guess.

Anyway like all Wandering Spirits builds, this one is also based around Spectral Putrescence.
There is no other option for now.
I’d like more options.

I can, but I’m pretty sure I can’t cast spells, and if I were to spin in a circle with a big hammer I’d probably puke after a few seconds (would that be extra poison AoE?).

Nope I don’t run…

Its a complete build, look it up. Its not missing anything, its the most hands free experience you can have. The Lich version requires more buttons to be pressed.

Not necessarily. if you numlock Wandering Spirits + Reaper, it still outperforms in terms of damage the version without Reaper. Reaper just adds a flat damage increase, and Aura of Decay helps to maintain Reaper uptime so you can passively make more damage on a longer period.

Look at https://youtu.be/EjSIW18PCX8?t=23 for numbers for Lvl 77 Lich.
It’s in the 60k-100k range.

Thanks for elaborate feedback. I like that you raised the issue of ergonomics in prolonged play, which is inherent to the grindy character of an ARPG these days.
Good discussion!
