First i wanted to thank you for the Patch, i played quite a lot this week and enjoyed myself tremendously while doing it - most of the time.
That leads me to the feedback i want to give, because i am now sitting here, not quite enjoying myself anymore.
With giving this feedback i am aware that games like LE have a life-cycle, where you play until you dont and that is good and allright.
Thing is: The feeling i am leaving the patch cycle with is sadly enough not one of completion and accomplishment but rather frustration and sadness.
All the points will be for absolute endgame.
When you are at the point that you are getting 2-3 LP Items you are starting to look for exalted items to slam them on these items. I am talking about single Exalteds, not multi.
Thing is: Its a slot machine without any form of progression and that feels horrible after some time. I am playing 4 hours a night grinding and after the grind i have…nothing to show for it. No progression whatsoever.
That is a horrible feeling for playing a game.
Its not even that i only have 1 item i am looking for, its multiple.
For example i got the Axe from Aberroth on one of my first kills, thinking cool, lets try Erasing Strike. Over 20 hours of grind later i havent found a Void Damage or Melee Damage 2H T7 Axe. Not a single one, so i cant play it, because without that its worse then my Warpath build. Thats too long.
In the same time i havent been able to craft a reasonable helmet or get a double T6 Ring for slamming a LP3 Ring (Of which i have 3 lol).
I cant slam stuff if i cant target Exalts.
Please give us some form of progression towards that, it feels like im running against a wall.
You can use the new runes to get one. For example, seal/remove an affix, place void damage on it and then shuffle the affixes with rune of havoc. Or find an exalted axe and use the rune of redemption to chaos the existing exalted affix (though this last one is less likely to succeed).
Using rune of havoc, it’s easier if all non-exalted affixes are on the same tier. You’ll have a better chance to succeed (1 in 3).
But i dont have Havoc runes. They are too rare.
Destroyed over 8 already because it didnt hit.
And i dont only need them for the helmet as main gear, then 2 rings to slam and shoes as well.
Too many for that rune to be this rare.
I haven’t started doing empowered monos yet, but I already have 5. They’re rare, but you should have more if you’re already in endgame.
Did you make all non-exalted affixes the same tier? If you make them all the same tier, you have 1 in 3 chances of getting it. If you don’t, you have up to 1 in 64.
Same with Harbingers Eye. Its rarely dropping although they said in another thread that it should be near 100% droprate above 400 Corruption or something.
I farmed over 30 Harbingers, got 2 eyes.
It feels so grindy, think its time to just lay down the game and stop.
Sad to see the end be this frustrating. all up to this point (Around killing aberroth with the 10 eyes you get from quests) is amazing.
This is exactly the scarcity issue I’m talking about since… well… ever. Good someone else sees the same issue existing.
It’s why I’m urging for deterministic gradual progression on the side to alleviate the RNG hell.
I have gotten around 40.
The results I got for usable outcomes was 1, a lucky hit.
Because after you’re done with making the item you still need to hit that second affix on your LP item, so it’s a 33% chance on top of a 25% chance of hitting. And the majority of items which drop on a fitting base-type have all 4 affixes filled, hence putting the right Affix on it is the major issue for it already.
Absolute end-game of LE is not in a good state still, as mentioned before, it’s too grindy without success in-between. The progression on the other hand is fantastic until that point, it swiftly switches from great to awful though, too swiftly. The scaling is still wacky simply.
@raldoron - what corruption level are you playing? what build? Are you in COF or MG? What content are you not strong enough to complete in your current build?
I suspect think this is a conquerable skill issue in understanding the game, builds, items, and how to be time efficient. The obvious answers for how to get better Exalts is to push corruption higher and/or use crafting more strategically.
On my Beastmaster/Bear/Swipe in Solo-AF CoF, I’m currently running only LP1 legendaries and mostly single T6 uniques, and I’m having no trouble pulling 8 packs at a time in corruption 280 with no deaths since starting empowered monos (I actually started this character in hardcore, and had a stupid death at level 70), just working my way up through the corruption climb. I will be surprised if I even need more than one LP2 legendary to do corruption 500 and Aberoth.
Compared to 1.1 the ability to use the portal-charm to skip right to the sanctum boss, and to deterministically put an affix on an LP1 legendary in about 5 minutes made this process so much smoother and faster than 1.1.
I’m not quite at the point you are of slamming LP2/LP3, but it has to be better than 1.1, just because of the determinisic affix, which makes the lower LP1/LP2 items much more usable and valuable, and I have 10 tabs of candidate Exalts i’ve saved to slam things just from curating drops well (plus CoF bonuses).
All my items have LP1 already, most have LP2.
The way up to this point was smooth and well.
Then the game raises a brick wall that is insurmountable unless you grind for, i dont know , 500 hours? Not feasible and shouldnt be like that, especially because the rest of the game isnt like that.
Yes its better, im not saying that the game is bad or the changes are bad. Its just the feedback that there is a brick wall at the far end of endgame that shouldnt be there because it feels horrible.
I would like to quit the game because i played enough and lost interest, not because of frustration.
I’m not there yet, so I’ll respect your experience…but I will be shocked if I have to spend 500 hours grinding gear to kill Aberoth, and probably not Uber Aberoth.
I think I’ve played ~60 hours on this character to get to corr280, and that was with quite a bit of inefficiency not racing the campaign, learning the new woven stuff, and learning how to push corrution faster (as it’s basically my first time doing it).
CoF for sure makes this endgame good item chase take more time, because in MG we could just buy the item we need, but that’s the extra difficulty we signed up for.
That said, I did put about 500 hours into POE2 0.1, but that was on multiple characters, and that game makes everything way slower and not speedrunable.
