Hello! I wanted to give some feedback on my experiences with the game as I felt it was important to voice just how frustrated I am with the game.
As far as a singleplayer experience goes, this game is great. It has run well with no issues and the gameplay loop is fun. The story is not what I would call the best and it abruptly ending and shoving you into endgame maps was jarring. And as a final nitpick I played as the Sentinel and I thought his voice acting was outstandingly dull, there is a such a displacement with how bored he sounds bellowing out his lines versus the situations he’s actually in.
As for the multiplayer… The feedback forum says to keep bug reports out of here. But I’m sorry to say that when the entire experience I’ve had with multiplayer has been nothing but bugs and frustrating issues then I can’t deliver it to you as anything other than feedback, especially when most of these I couldn’t possibly even start to guess why these issues are happening.
For context I and two other friends bought this game to play together, multiplayer was our main interest in this game and it runs incredibly poorly. The issues I list below have happened to all three of us. Game was bought a month ago but we only got around to starting it a couple days ago.
-
Server stability is so bad that loading times are twice as long than in single player and noticeable lag spikes during gameplay, with multiple connection losses resulting being sent back to the log in screen while in the middle of gameplay.
-
Party members becoming invisible to other players on both the map AND in game, party UI vanishing on zone transitions and sometimes coming back on zone transitions.
-
Despite entering areas at the same time, we often ended up in different versions of the zone and would have to teleport manually to one of us to regroup, meaning sitting through more long load screens.
-
Connection losses resulting in content being sequence broken or unbeatable such as the two disconnects in the Lightless Arbor dungeon where both happened just before reaching the boss door, first time I logged back in I was somehow inside a completely different room that had the bosses heart in it, meaning I had somehow skipped the entire first phase of the boss fight and my friends had to still fight through that in order to get to me. The second time this happened I was instead in the correct room, but now the door to the boss refused to open which meant a dead run.

Major issues with being able to stay in the same instances as each other, as teleporting to another player can get you stuck on a loading screen with no way out other than using Task Manager to close the game.
-
Certain boss arenas not being tested for multiple players meant it was very easy for one of us to stray too close and activate walls that would seal one player in the arena and the other two outside of it, unable to do anything but watch.
-
Simply trying to teleport from one end of an area to another in the End of Time instance managed to get me and another friend stuck in the zones skybox unable to interact or move at all, only way out was to close the game and relaunch.
-
Multiplayer instability getting worse as we got closer to the endgame as it’s clearly not been tested that far by the developers. End game mapping in the Monolith zone had multiple instances of enemies not dying but instead getting stuck at zero HP and then just standing very still instead of falling over dead, this resulted in any map this glitch happened on to not be completed as the game didn’t recognise them as dead, also when this glitch did show up it would recur over and over until we all closed the game and logged back in.
-
Not being able to use party chat easily because every time we set the chat box to be in party chat, changing to any zone would reset it to Global chat. Very awkard for when we wanted to just show items we got to eachother for potenial sharing.
With the current state of multiplayer in this game and the fact that this games story mode is actually still missing chapters, it is shocking to me that this game thought it was ready to leave early access. This is not what I expected to receive from what I paid full price for and due to these listed issues I am looking to get a refund for this game from Steam as it is not what I had hoped for at all in terms of quality.
I do hope to see these issues fixed but it’s clearly going to take a while, but I do genuinely hope to be able to revisit this a year from now and see if things have improved. In the case it has improved by a large margin I and my friends would happily come back to play more.
