I’m running under both windows and linux and noticed that the fan (on my gaming laptop) runs all the time in both.
i saw a post in the forums talk about setting the frame rate manually. so i checked the box, set graphics level to LOW, and set updates to 30 fps.
Fans don’t run anymore, unless i’m back in an encampent. Then, within 10 seconds, the fan is going. This is also something i’ve seen people mention, that encampent/town is worse than being in the world.
This was a test i ran in Linux, i’m going to try Windows in a little while.
unfortunately bumping the fps to just 40 causes the fan to kick on again.
it seems quite odd that the FPS has to be set to such a low value when graphics are dialed down to “low” (BTW, the game looks pretty good in “low” mode).
So, something to try if you are experiencing excessive GPU utilization.
