Extensive farm that give no result or wasting unique

Hello everyone

Yesterday i finally get my second Shroud unique with 2 Lp. I was waiting to egt a second one to be sur i have or the other at both 50% chance that cannot not fail … Would I fail did i fail ? and the answer is not only i did not succesfully get my + to skill but i get 0 suffixe. It hurt a lot ! it is frustrating and you start questionning your commitment to the game. and wonder if you should still play. It is unhealty fo the game and the publisher

When you fail because of the RNG you cannot learn from your mistake and do better the next time you try. So you loose the will to play because you know that you can try it 3 or 4 other time , take week to do it and faill again.

it is a bad design that punish player for no reason only to slow there progress . There is a lot of different way to achieve the same result without discouraging player. For exemple it may require to awaken the item by fill it from energy obtainable by hunting specifc monster related to the lore of the item. Or gathering item that drop only after you start to make the item so you dont end up banking them before. There is probably other good way that you might think of so please comment !

Also A legendary potential item is a superior version and the more it contain power, the better is suppose to be. And it is not what we get at all !

Everytime i get a T3 it is automatically the worst . I dont want the item to have all the same value but I think they should have more chance to be a good roll. for exemple : 10% to 40% ignite could be at lp 0 : 10 to 40% and Lp 1 : 15% to 40% , Lp2: 20-40% Lp 3: 25-30 and Lp4 30% to 40% . This way when you find that crazy rare epic unique Lp4 it is not busted compare to other lp but it id at least good 30-40 quite good !

Ty for ready and sorry for my grammatical mistake english is not my first language. Also think that RNG should never been use to make the player fail that much ( imagine a boss where thhey roll when you enter the room if you dont get 60% you are dead !)

Though, to your potentially disliking, I am of a different opinion. Frustrating is kinda part of the game. Sometimes you are more lucky, sometimes less.

If you farmed for a long, long time and you wouldn’t have seen one of these uniques without atleast 1 LP, then this would be a serious issue.

In my opinion, part of the game is also doing the best out of what you get, adapting.

I think I am not the only one, when I write this:
I feel you.

To leave you with an anecdote:
There has been a study about monkeys, where they pushed a button and food comes.

When the button always provided food, the monkeys were bored and their dopamine levels were almost unchanged.
Then, the mechanic was changed, so that the button would only give food in 90% of the cases, though they could smash the button as often as they wanted.
(They didn’t go hungry)

The result?
The dopamine levels of the monkeys shot up before they clicked the button and they were much eager to click it.

It could be similar to going a Mensa or canteen which either always has the same food or everyday something different.

I know this feeling of frustration…and we all have been there many many time i guess…but this is the reason a success is even more rewarding and kicking your dopamine levels like clown pointed out very nicely!

But I do like the idea of “working” an an item to prepare…maybe the odds or to influence the outcome maybe a bit more in your favour or something like this - would give me an other reason for farming. This would be a nice thing!

As much as I often enjoy the grind, we as players have other options, and the largest reason those, especially the established, players quit tends to be the grind. If you look around player burnout can reach a high level in grindy games especially when the grind tends to disrespect the players time investment. What does all that mean in regards to LE? hard to say it is a delicate balance, and I for one wish it would be looked at.

Hi nice study !

im not angry anymore. Found a Lp 2 Aberran call and i made a pogger legendary : 50 % casting speed ans 200% minion spell damage. Then i searched for some build and I found one from epoch build from Dred ? (Im french speaking and cant hear is name well) : the recycling zombi.

I don’t like to just copy a build but I find some inspiration now and there and also learn trick and method to scale some skill. Im gratefull for all there extensive work. The build give me the idea to use the reall purpose of the staff the fire wraith wich suffered a really big nerf in the past and i was not playing last epoch that why i can play them as they are. But why not applying 3 dread shade and make the becoming giant rampager explosif zombi. That is hilarous . Monster that aoe my wraith get severly punished as 3 zombies explode there face. It is a lot of clicking so I have to take some pause once a while or my hand hurt.

I still think that something should be done for 2 Lp and more . Maybe letting us choose 1 afffix at least and also I really think that giving a bonus roll for higher Lp is a good idea : More pontential mean more power so no lp3 or lp4 minium roll it doesnt make much sens and as they are really rare they should be precious !

Long story short I do not know because of the previous nerf if ill be able to perform ok in empower. I may not having enough survability with the temporary ward provided by the zombi with movement skill transplant (the 60% damage bonus is a good sinergy) and blood rip for little healing no and there and another sinergy cast speed and damage but im having lot of fun.

Congrats my friend - its an amazing feeling to get a nice LP unique an create a build for it (or use it and feel the boost it provides!!)
But I want to take up your thought here to maybe be able to influence the outcome of an LP craft in some or the other way!

Maybe you can farm some “substance” somewhere (new dungeon - ofc gated behind keys :-)) to push the outcome to your favorite affix - or maybe to add additional LP to an item - this would give myself a very solid reason to farm and keep playing.
I guess some restriction must be build in to protect the game balance since hardcore gamers will have 4LP uniques on every item slot.
Restrictions can be like:

  • If you add a LP you cant influence the outcome anymore and/or are restriced to 2(3) LP maximum - and vice versa - if you influence you cant add anything anymore…
  • Or you are only able to add 1 LP if it has not more than 2LP and add 2 if it has only 1LP
  • Or when you influence an item it must not have more than 2 LP

All in all I´m a bit excited about this idea - what do you guys think?! Could that be a thing?!
