Extend the Stash Tabs

Hi everyone.

I know this is a very minor thing, but in my opinion the stash tabs are one square too short vertically.
The stash tabs are currently 12x17 and most items are either 1x2/2x2 or 1x3/2x3
(with only huge idols and two-handed weapons being 1x4 and 2x4)

The horizontal is perfect.
12 works perfectly with items that are 1, 2, 3, and 4 wide as shown below.

Horizontal Showcase

:white_check_mark: 12 / 1 = 12
:white_check_mark: 12 / 2 = 6
:white_check_mark: 12 / 3 = 4
:white_check_mark: 12 / 4 = 3

But then we get to the verticality of the stash tabs.
The stash tabs are 17 squares vertically which works horribly with items that are 2, 3, and 4 squares long.

Vertical Showcase

:white_check_mark: 17 / 1 = 17
:red_square: 17 / 2 = 8.5
:red_square: 17 / 3 = 5.67
:red_square: 17 / 4 = 4.25

I find it incredibly annoying there is so much “wasted space” for those who organize their stash tabs.
Personally I organize them into item types, which means the tabs for my body armors have two useless rows at the bottom since the armors are 2x3.

If the stash tabs were updated to be 18 squares vertically, it would make them so much more space efficient."

New Vertical Showcase

:white_check_mark: 18 / 1 = 18
:white_check_mark: 18 / 2 = 9
:white_check_mark: 18 / 3 = 6
:red_square: 18 / 4 = 4.5

I believe just expanding the tabs one square vertically would be the best thing to do. It would be such an amazing Quality of Life change.
It would also give everyone a little extra stash space as I see a lot of people who think the tabs are too expensive
(I personally think they are very nicely priced)

I made an example of what it could look like

I am no professional graphics designer, but it gives a clear image of what it could look like.

Side by side

What do you think?

I support this 100%. You put into words I’ve thought for quite some time now.

Thank you! I am happy that I was also able to put it into picture lol. It makes it a bit easier to see and pitch.
What do you think of the design change?

Yes! It definitely helped me agree and wish for that.
From the title alone, I was like “oh god, here we go, more of those silly unnecessary complaints”.
But after comparing the pics, it makes total sense and seem like would be a very nice little tweak to the game.

Thank you ^^
It’s one of those small changes that would just bring so much to those who care about it.

I’d like a fullscreen mode or something like that

That is definitely something I have tried to imagine what would look like.

Fullscreen would be kinda awful, no? Also tried imagining but really couldn’t get anything decent in my mind.
Does it even exist? A fullscreen stash in a ARPG or even MMO game? Only things i could think of was Pokemon/Nintendo games

To each their own

I agree. I always have been fiddling with the stash but never knew why. You’ve managed to explain what I didn’t realize I was experiencing so I am in support of this!

Who knew a row of squares could bring the community together like never before.
Don’t forget to click the vote button so the devs can see the support <3

I rethought about what I said and I take everything back. Thread Autor still has a good point tho.

I agree even though I stopped trying to organize my stash now.

Seeing this thread… my OCD is pleased.

100% for it.

I am happy I could be of service ^^

You got my vote.

What I would really be interested in is why the Designers believed that 17 slots vertically was a good idea in the first place.

The funny thing about that is that they actually did it perfectly for the shops…

Shop Image

They made the shop 12x16 instead of 12x17 which makes it fit perfectly with items 4 squares long as well. But for some reason, the stash is 17… which just doesn’t make any sense lmao

I still think making it 12x18 would be better as it would also make each stash tab more valuable given you can fit more stuff into it.

I was thinking maybe they tried to get as close as possible to the golden cut ratio. But then it should have been 19 (rounded down from 19.4).

And about 16 vs 18: I do not really care but if they used 16 then that would be a problem for all the existing stash tabs while 18 would never be a problem.

That is true.

I might also be working on redesigning another part of the UI :eyes:

Does anyone know how we know if the devs take notice of posts? Do they get marked, or do they comment?
