Expressing my feelings: Most enemies feel pathetic

I know most enemies are supposed to be cannon fodder, but they feel so pathetic that sometimes I actually feel bad about killing them.

The thing is, most enemies have some animation where they approach/fly-by/jump-out/burrow-out, and while that animation is performed, they are vulnerable, and they can be killed even before they start reacting to the player. Most of the osprix especially feel very pitiful to be killed, since they just fly down to land near you, and they are already dead, with this agonizing scream. And them ragdolling around does not help either, because it only reinforces the feeling of you humiliating them even further.

Next, it is extremely easy to off-screen enemies in this game. I don’t know if it’s because of my 4K wide resolution, or for some balance reasons, but again, this just doesn’t feel right and it’s almost like cheating.

Then, we have the animals. I am no PETA activist, or a WWF activist, or a vegan, or anything, but it just feels so wrong to kill all these animals that are just minding their own business.

I will not be suggesting any changes or improvements or anything, because people get easily offended by those. I will leave this to the developers and designers, I just wanted to share how I feel about the game, and wanted to know if anybody else shares my opinions

You’re playing a sorcerer, which is currently OP, so it’s balance issues.

Not sure if this is a troll post or if you are serious.

But those bears and boars and crabs are absolutely trying to kill you and don’t mind their own business.

No, I am not trolling at all. You are walking around the wilderness and you are mindlessly slaughtering animals, just because they happen to be between your Point A and Point B

I can still off-screen mobs with other classes and kill them while they are having their initial animations

With some classes and while you’re leveling, sure. Not all. Especially not with melee. Or minions. Which, again, is the whole balance thing.

This is the same in every ARPG. You always have your bears and birds and whatever which will try to kill you and you kill them while moving from point A to point B. All RPGs in general have animals you mindlessly kill, most commonly rats (the eternal starter quest) and bears.

Well, we really have all sorts of opinions then. While you feel monsters are pathetic, there’s people who are actually struggling just to stay alive.

And I don’t know what to say about all that… Guess I’m right in the middle and I think most monsters are just fine.

I don’t take pity on video game animals nor would I take pity on pixels on my screen of monsters- even more so when they are trying to kill me.

Slaughter them and enjoy it

I actually love that the game is a bit less lethal than certain other ARPGs. I’m not really hear to be challenged by some behind the scenes math. I just wanna kill a bunch of stuff and watch items pop out of their corpses.

I personally love the fact that I can off the mobs before they even finish their reveal (however that looks). If you want to get flashy and land/ burrow/ jump at me, I’m gonna destroy you.

I think the range of the mobs you agro should be a factor based on your level vs theirs. If you’re high enough, they will just ignore you…if you’re low enough, they’ll come at you from screens away.

Would be nice as a way to have enemies avoid you during the campaign maps since it would make campaign prophecies a bit more interesting.

Not sure how that would work on monolith or arena? Do monsters auto flee aka die if you kill their wave leader? Could be cool
