the ice vortices from yulia (in ruin of the empire’s first quest) do very excessive damage; i have 4k ward and a 19% rdot oracle amulet yet when she placed the ice vortex directly on top of me i died in about 0.3 seconds. i wish i had recorded it, because it was silly.
based on what i’ve heard from others, i suspect formosus’s ice vortices are guilty of the same problem, but they’ve never been cast directly on top of me so i haven’t had the misfortune of experiencing them.
How much cold protection (and hp) do you have?
zero protections, because it’s a low life stable ward build (exsang and LSL) which makes protection much less valuable than normal. but i think it’s safe to say a level 90 miniboss shouldn’t do significantly more DPS than level 100 final boss attacks such as the emperor of corpses’s soul circle. especially considering the former starts damaging you instantly while the latter gives you ~5 seconds to get out of the way before it does any damage.
Ah, IMO that’s your problem then I think 4k ward is probably too little to completely forgo protections unless you’re generating a lot of ward on hit/per second.
you think a level 90 miniboss should be doing much more DPS than the emperor of corpses? because i survived standing in his attacks repeatedly yet died instantly to yulia’s vortex. this isn’t about my build, this is about this miniboss’s damage being out of wack relative to everything else in the game.
