I am seeing the same behavior as reported here.
However I did some extra testing using a level 99 primalist with 1871 hp and 32 strength, 39 attunment, and 5 points in call of the pack. I made sure I did not have any of the companion/minion % health passive nodes (e.g. Ancient Call).
I tested with both a Storm Crow (base health 1428) and a wolf (base health 1116) - neither with any %health specializations.
I tested with 0% increased minion health gear, and then 125% increased minion health. Based on this, when using Blessing of Eterra with the Triage node:
- The numerical health values of your minions do not matter at all. In all four cases (wolf, raven, 0% health, 125% health), the Blessing simply would not target the companion until they had lost about 1/3 of their HP (consistent with what @SpykeMH showed).
I did verify that Triage uses % hp to choose its target by summoning a Wolf first and then a Bear immediately after while Aberrant Call was equipped (so the wolf was just slightly more damaged %-wise, but the bear had a larger total amount of damage). Triage targeted the Wolf first.
So I have a few suggestions to make Triage actually usable:
- Please remove the hidden requirement of a minion not being in a “high health” state to target them. Or at least disclose it in the description - which is, currently, misleading.
- If all targets are at the same health % (e.g., full) why not pick one at random?
- Originally I thought it might just be based on numerical values instead of %'s. I think this actually would make for interesting build choices where you have to balance the health of your minions with your own to decide who to target.
