Eterra Monthly: August Edition 2026

The gloves are going to be very powerful, I imagine they aren’t easy to get but they are level 30 which suggests they are also not that hard to get. Kinda strange but without a doubt will be BiS for many builds.

Set is kinda meh.

Spear I can’t tell as I don’t know spear builds or how they work but then again my interest in them is also not that high.

Amulet is likely going to be a BiS in most builds too but considering how rare it is supposed to be hardly any build will ever use it. This is something I cannot get used with any ARPG, making items so absurdly rare that they hardly ever get used by anyone. To me this defeats the purpose of the item even existing.

And then we got the big flop of all, the helmet. I know a lot of people are going to mention rogues and I’m still going to call it bad. Skeletons are bad and die instantly. You don’t have a golem which means in a necromancer build which is hard to be tanky except on extremely hard to get gear that means dying a lot more and they already die way too much. You lose every other minion that at least does anything and lets be real. Even if we say that rogues are good. they absolutely aren’t at least early on which means they need a bunch of gear and levels before they even start working where other minions just work by default. I mean not great, most minions are still terrible anyway with some rare exceptions but at least they work right from the start up until they can’t deal with the corruption level anymore. Skeletons, even rogues early on are hot garbage. So nah, once again minions players treated like second class citizens.

I think this highlights the slippery slope he was talking about. Because you know if they don’t end up adding procedrual maps every FIST (forum internet sleuth troll) in here will be copy/pasting screenshots of that quote to scream “YOU SAID…!!!”

I saw it happen with Wolcen on an epic scale.

There is a difference between saying “We’re working on it” and “We’d like to add”. Mike actually does make that distinction plenty of times. Like when he said that they’re working on item factions rework, but so far he’s only said they’d like to add procedural generation to dungeons.

So there really is no slippery slope here. Mike would only say stuff like that for things that are already underway in development, not for things in their wishlist. One will eventually be done soon(-ish) at an yet unforeseen date (unless something unexpected causes them to drop it, in which case they can also announce that), the other might or might not get done.

Nono, Wolcen added things in the playtest and then removed them again.

That’s kinda different.
And then they never added anything substantially new afterwards. EHG is slooooow… but compared to Wolcen they look like world-record runners.

This slippery slope you’re talking about only exists if you screw up communication entirely on a ridiculous level, combined with actual actions. Keep basic pace, basic quality and you never run into this issue in the first place unless you oversell.

So one of the biggest issues with communication is knowing when to actually say stuff, which is also hard when the timeline is constantly moving between 4 and 9 months and not having set in stone dates for things. It would actually probably be better for EHG to literally say nothing, no teasers no nothing, until that date is set in stone and then have an actual ‘calendar’ (using a term that they already are) to follow for that last month or w/e they determine to be. Would solve all the complaining about bad teasers and not enough info. You just get nothing until the date is set and things are extremely finalized.

I am VERY aware there is a distinction. I’m also very aware that the internet has a raging loud minority that isn’t able to make that distinction.

And while it’s entirely on those types of people to be less hyperbolic in their reaction I also fully understand why companies, especially gaming companies, can be a bit gun-shy on how much and what kind of information they put out that’s not solidly engraved in stone.

I felt like that’s point Mickey was trying to make. It’s not just about ‘presentation.’

By the way, where the hell is transmog? It was supposed to be added in season 4, but now it’s no longer mentioned in any of the posts after that.

It was not. See above post for the distinction of “We’re working on it” and “We’d like to add”.

And proves my point.

Though I will add I’d like to know what is happening with the transmog stuff as well because it does appear to have completely dropped off the list.

That’s the point of your difference.
Unless properly communicated it doesn’t work well, and proper communication is reminders.

One functional system that I’ve never seen failing for now is to summarize the progression of things once before every major update at least.
So in terms of transmog we could say ‘planning phase’ or ‘started’ as example depending on how far along it is.

This allows a more cohesive overview of progression for the development and makes it feel like ‘things are moving’.
This counteracts a lack of speed as well since it’s simply visualized.

But I’m against the argument of ‘it has to be done carefully’ since ‘careful’ is as mentioned what brought the whole situation we’re in along in the first place. Re-doing the same thing multiple times, erring at the side of caution repeatedly which stifles progression.
What has to be done instead is to advance solidly and reliably, and this includes counteracting the downsides with proper communication, which we don’t have in several areas.

I believe transmogs will come but I assume they are put on the back burner for “LEO” or after because they really don’t move the needle that much and also compete with MTX items, which I’m sure are a higher priority. I want these as well, but I’m not holding my breath for them any time soon.

BTW - Welcome aboard @MickeyEHG !

Playing catchup here is hilarious.
“We want info…”
“Let me explain how we will give info but will be careful to not give you info as well”

This is the trap. It’s not day 1, no one cares about the reasoning. They just want info.

You could literally reply once here saying “Post inc”. Proceed to post literally any info for the upcoming league in the Patch Notes channel. Even if it’s only 1/10th of the total notes and just put “More incoming, just shoving out what I can atm”

The difference would be “Holy crap they’re communicating”

vs this 50 replies and no change.

Devs think “look we have new community manager” will get people excited.

REALITY: No, people will not care until they see something change. That’s just humans being humans…

Recently, the devs added scaling for the Hungry Souls to the Death Knight’s souls, which I had been asking for a long time. If possible, please pass on a big thanks to them and a request to add scaling for Spriggan’s Root (this minion’s ability) with the Roots’ talent tree. Unfortunately, I dinnae remember a correct name of this primilist’s skill.

P.s. Considering the new unique item, it will be relevant, at least in the new expansion. Before the season 5, they are unlikely to have time to do that.

Yes it was. It was on the original roadmap. You know, the one where they had to pivot season 3 into being season 2 (and vice versa) while making us wait 6 more months for a single season

Thing is is that they even admitted that the MTX aren’t profitable, hence why they accepted the Krafton buyout. It just seems so weird that haven’t even at least acknowledged it.

Or shown any plans to remedy it plainly spoken.

It’s scary to see them showing us items instead of what they’re doing with classes to improve the game because it’s actually the worst season we ever saw i think.

Wtf is that spear , you guys doing a new Torkrefin ? Couldn’t you just upgrade instead ? Can’t you show us some new versions of old useless legendary instead please ?

I think this is the third CM we’ve had since I joined here.

To be fair, Mickey didn’t replace Derrick. From what he’s posted it seems they’re both still working, they just focus on different parts of the community aspect.

So it’s not like the previous one got fired and they got a new one to see if things work. They just hired a new one to fill in the blanks the first one wasn’t filling.

Yep, they hire a LOT and produce very little with it, that’s true
