Erasing Strike Attunement Question

Erasing Strike says each point of attunement increases void damage by 5%.

Does this 5% increase to void damage effect both the void damage portion of the initial hit AND the after effect (i.e. the void rifts/void beams)? Or does Attunement only effect the after effect (i.e. the void rifts/beams)?

It affects the skill as a whole, so it should apply to all elements of it.
