Echo Quests

I’ll preface this by saying I love the monolith and the boss fights it provides. This is mainly about what you complete in each echo to move on to the next echo.

  1. Destroy the spire - This might be the worst quest goal ever put in a video game. Spires pose no threat unless you stand still and your undergeared. This feels like a pure time waster. Especially when you get 3 spire spread out from one another requiring more running around. I’d completely remove this from the game if it was my choice. Don’t even want to try improving it.

  2. Destroy the forge - Better than spires, but still pretty boring. Spawns generally easy mobs in small waves with a rare at the end usually. This needs something to make it more rewarding and challenging. Maybe more mobs spawned and more rares with a final boss spawn to challenge you. Reward is a higher chance for exalted gear or something from boss.

  3. Kill Boss - The least painful option, mainly because it takes the least amount of time other than single spire maps. Bosses are super easy unless juiced up in and empowered map and I mean REALLY juiced up. Bosses need more mechanincs, more hp, variety, and some kind of reward for killing them.

From what I understand they are going to improve these at some point in the future, but as it stands now its a non-exciting slog through echos which leads to rushing through to the end.
I can deal with Quest 2 & 3 most of the time. Quest 1 is killing my enjoyment of the game overall though.

  1. Agreed with this one, except when there is one only spire to destroy.

  2. I rather like the forge as it is. True, you kill easy mobs then one or two rares (the less easy being Wengari Patriarch and Matriarch), but you often have a nice bunch of shards as a reward.

  3. I do agree “mini” bosses (Argolos, Orchirian, etc) are easy, but fighting them can be somewhat fun.

I’d like to see a better progression storywise in a timeline. The three quests are one story (more diversed and less linked for Reign of Dragons), but echoes in between sometime feel totally out of the scope. I’d like each timeline to be a small story on its own, with all echoes linked to that story. At least till the third quest is proposed. If the player decides to continue and not do the last quest, the story itself ends and “standard” echoes are proposed.

The forge definitely has the better loot out of the 3. It’s bad loot the majority if the time with the occasional exalted and nicely rolled rare. It’s mostly stuff like poison resistance and low end stuff. Don’t believe I’ve ever gotten a class shard to drop from one of these though maybe I did for other classes and I’ve just forgotten about it.
