Hello I’ve recently been playing with the #% Echo damage when a skill echoes multiplier on my gear and Idols
and was wondering where the calculation plays in,
I’ve noticed that my echo damage varies on the second swing meaning an echo does a complete different calculation on the echo proc
I currently have +240% increased echo damage on and am doing dummy testing with the skill Rive, but it seems I’m getting a multiplier on the echo that seems to be from a top roll hit of 18k base hit it, to an echo top roll hit of 30k
If the +% echo was an independent modifier I’d be expecting 3.4x modifier from my 100% base + 240%; but in testing it seems the modifier on my +240% is closer to a 1.6x over my base
I was wondering how this is calculated, and if its functioning as intended
It should be adding in with all the rest of your increased modifiers, though it’s possible that if it’s on an idol that the idol-version is being treated as a more modifier.
How much applicable % increased damage do you have?
216+397 = 613 total
Phys / total ; 216/613 = 35.6% Phys damage of total damage
it seems to be additive instead of separately multiplicative from my experience with it, I’m just not sure which its additive into
is it additive on the same level as melee%
if so my echo would go from a 2.45 multiplier to a 2.85 multiplier, which would be a 2x damage increase on the echo; which is above the performance that I’m getting from it,
If it were applied additive to Phys% I’d be getting 1.8x damage increase
It’s simpler to just work through the difference in what’s changing (the % increased damage) rather than do more maths to calculate the damage for both echo & normal hits from first principles. Less maths = less chance for error & since the flat damage & the “more” damage from the skill tree doesn’t change we can ignore it.
Ok, so it looks like you’ve got 50% global damage so you need to remove 50% from everything except 1 of those figures (otherwise you’d be double counting).
You’d be going from:
(145% + 142% - 50%) x 35.6% + (145% + 418% - 50%) x 64.4% = 84.4 + 330.4 = 414.8% average increased damage on a non-echo
to
(145% + 142% + 240% - 50%) x 35.6% + (145% + 418% + 240% - 50%) x 64.4% = 169.8 + 484.9 = 654.7% increased damage on the echo which is about (654.7 / 414.8) 1.6x the damage which is roughly what you were seeing (30k / 18k = 1.67x damage).
