Easy Reset Button Feature

With 1.0 just around the corner, can we have a feature to delete progress in online mode? I’m not a fan of cycle/league/seasons or whatever you call it but I kinda want a fresh start at 1.0 and since I have some friends to play with at 1.0 who can be quite really busy in real life so I doubt cycle/league will be their cup of tea either.

Would be nice if it’s something we can easily find in the in-game settings/options. Some scary big red button that’ll threaten you it will delete all your characters, stash, gold, crafting materials, etc if you push it. With multiple layer of warnings of course. Not something you can delete in 1-2 clicks by accident.

Since deleting local save files ain’t no longer an option. I doubt it’s a hard feature to implement? I don’t think it’s gonna cause more server load?

“Why not just play Cycle/League? It’s a fresh start”
Yes, it’s a fresh start but once the cycle ends, it’s gonna get merged with the clutter I already made in standard ever since v0.9.

“Why not delete your characters in standard manually?”
I could do this but I have lots of stash tabs that needs cleaning. There’s no hotkey for “Drop Item” which was included in plenty of my suggestions a year ago (EHG PLS). Not only that but there’s no way to delete gold and crafting materials, though I could just waste my gold on more stash tabs until I can no longer afford another.

No other workaround here, no?

If such a button had existed before, I would have used it at least 2-3 times already.
In the future I am happy to play in cycles, so it will become far less interesting to me.
Still a good suggestion, that I would put in the “why-not-if-it-is-easy-to-implement” category.

Side note:
Of course, people being people, you can put 5 layers of flashing red capital letters warnings and an extra loud siren sound when the cursor gets close to the button, someone WILL find a way to not notice and complain they accidentally deleted everything.

There was some game I played a while ago that made you confirm these types of decisions by typing something. So if we wanted to delete a character we’d have to type “DELETE” or something. If something like that were implemented, yes, probably someone would still do it, but they’d have no excuse then.

It is a feature in many games, yes, typing either delete or the character’s name. Wise, I think.
Maybe before a full reset we should ask people to type something like “Yes Please Delete Everything I Am Sure Really Really Sure Go Ahead Do It”.

I’m not sure if my request to have this feature implemented is simply just a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. I don’t know how other ARPG with servers handle this situation. I don’t think I’ve seen people talking or complaining about it either–these “what ifs” regarding standard or someone who played too many Cycles/Leagues before that his Standard got too convoluted and want to play Standard from now on and want these data deleted. Hopefully EHG would consider. I don’t know coding or any developer stuff but it doesn’t sound too hard to implement.

Can’t blame me if I’m drunk! It’s the game’s fault!

Ahhh Grim Dawn and their QoL that I wish some of it was in LE too. Good stuff~

This shouldn’t be hard. It’s basically a DB command to delete your characters and everything related to it (stash, gold, materials, faction ranks, etc.). That being said, as with everything in a game, it would have to be implemented and then throughly tested, so even if it’s easy it would still require some time and I expect this isn’t high on the priority list, especially when joining a new cycle will effectively do what you want.

I remember playing some offline version of a game a long time ago where these account info are literally stored in a notepad and I used to simply just delete the line for that account ID and that’s it.

I just really want to know if we’re gonna have a choice to have a fresh standard league by 1.0. It took me like 3 hours to clean my stash before, just want to know first before I spend another couple of hours cleaning. Otherwise could’ve wasted that time if we’re able to do a fresh start in standard.

You’re patient…
When 0.9 came out I just renamed all my stash tabs “0.8”, coloured them grey, and bought new fresh ones.

I agree that this would be desirable and shouldn’t be a big lift, but until they get around to it there might be a workaround: Create a new Steam account and use Steam Family Sharing to access your main account’s game library.

But wouldn’t that still log upu in to the same LE account online?

The answer to that is: no. All out current characters will be moved to legacy (standard) realm. So legacy will not start fresh. However, you can create a cycle character and that will start fresh.

Nope, just verified and it works perfectly.

  • In Steam, create and log into a new account.
  • Log back into your main account.
  • Go into Settings: Family and turn on “Authorize Library Sharing on this device”
  • Add the new account you just created as an authorized user.
  • Log back over to the new Steam account
  • Start Last Epoch and create a new screen name when prompted
  • Enjoy your clean start

Well, that’s one way to do it lol. Too bad having I need those stash tabs not having stuff in it. I started doing it again earlier after my last reply, took me 2 hours only from head to toe armor. Not even including accessories, weapons, and for the love of god–idols which is the most annoying one to clean up for me at least. And I counted, that’s 48 stash tabs left and I gave up for now.

Offline mode can have fresh start whenever assuming one can easily prevent steam from syncing. Sadly it isn’t the case for online mode. Just wanted a clean standard since I don’t really intend to play Cycle/League and guaranteed none of my friends will do also. And the closest I’ve seen about this issue in other ARPG was someone from PoE who said he doesn’t even want to open his standard league because of how much of a mess it is already. I was just kinda surprised even the much-popular ARPG doesn’t have an easy reset for legacy.

Hmmmm… Interesting, I really thought this wasn’t possible since there’s an account needed to login to LE servers. But I’m still hesitant to do this because some games lock out “free content” despite being “free” if played through this method. One example is Dead Cells’s “Rise of the Giant” DLC, which I have family sharing enabled on my brother’s PC and that DLC isn’t available for him for some reason. Just worried something like this might happen in LE in the future. Or who knows what limitations a “family-shared” account will have. But thanks for letting me know.

Does it work online and do you still have access to your mtx? If it’s yes to both then that’d kinda be a way to get a second account, though only one could be online at once due to the way library sharing works in steam.

It does work online. MTX purchases do not carry over- my new account only has the guppy.
