Drop in Rift frequency after hotfixes

So me and some friends have been playing since season launch. The rift frequency at launch was very high, it was every map or every other map at lowest. Given the amount of ancient bones it took to get a primal unique from the shop, it felt balanced around getting you one unique by campaign completion, or halfway through normal monoliths.

However, since the hotfixes the rate has been significantly lower. In monoliths you can go an hour before seeing another rift. 2 of us even started leveling a second character to test our perceived drop in rift rates. The rift rate is definitely higher in the campaign, but nothing like it used to be. You get a rift every 5 or so maps.

The lack of rifts is kinda bumming me out considering that is the main mechanic of the season and I’m rarely seeing it in end game when I’m blasting through monoliths so quickly.

Is anyone else noticing this change?

I think it’s mostly RNG. I still see them in most echoes.

This is a common misconception. Rifts aren’t the ā€œmain mechanic of the seasonā€ because rifts are not a seasonal mechanic. They’re a core mechanic. It got added to the game to stay. So it was added in a balanced way, same as they did with everything else (Nemesis, Tombs, etc).
Unlike GGG that always goes over the top with the current mechanic because it might not go core or if it does it’s then a watered down version.

When Season 4 comes, Rifts will continue to exist in the same manner and frequency as they do now.

I’m the same as the OP. In monoliths I never see and Rifts I’m about half way through the monolith and I’ve seen about two rifts no exaggeration (I have the nodes for them to be more likely but I don’t search every corner of the echos for reference), this is from having them every zone on leveling to now nothing. Sorry but this was quite clearly advertised as the theme of the season and to not even slightly engage with it in the endgame is a huge let down. We are basically playing last season if you cant find any of the Rifts. The part that bothers me is every Echo there is every other ā€˜seasonal’ mechanic except this seasons? Maybe its just bad luck or not searching hard enough but they could at least place a directional curser like the ā€˜spider curser’ to the tombs. I’ve sadly stopped playing already because the wind has been taken out of my sails, really sux and I hope next season they have something that can be engaged in each echo to keep things fresh.

I do have all the rift nodes in weaver tree maxed, and I’m running 700+ corruption, which makes encounters more likely. I also never go out of my way to find them and I only detour if I see the icon. And they’ve been showing up on almost every single echo.

So it could be because of weaver tree+high corruption that is causing me to see them more, or it could be bad RNG for some.

I’ve had this happen with mages as well. I wanted to kill a few for a few prophecies and none showed up in about an hour. But now they also show up in every single map, sometimes even 3, if I go into tombs.

Either way, if it’s some problem with the code, I’m sure the devs are aware of this by now and are looking into it.

I been playing for 2 hours in normal monos and i saw 1 rift, this is really making mad now. Why have a season mechanic we cant interact with, wtf.
