Typically when I find one of these I usually pick Empowered. I thought that meant that I’d find these same items again with a future Nemesis encounter, only better. Lately every one I do seems to be a new set of items and I’m not seeing the past ones again. Am I not understanding this correctly?
When you choose Empower, you have to fight the Nemesis. If you defeat it, it legs it & you get to fight it again in another echo.
The next time you encounter a Nemesis the items in the window will have changed, Rare and Exalted Items can have their Affixes modified up to Tier 7, increase their Forging Potential, or gain Sealed Affixes up to T7. Unique items can gain Legendary Potential or become a Legendary item.
They may look the same, but they will be different, sometimes it’s hard to tell if they haven’t significantly changed.
Yeah I think I understand the way it’s supposed to work but I had like 4 Nemesis encounters and each one were different items and I empowered each time. I feel like they’re not showing back up as the previous 4 items, just a completely new set. I’m not choosing Banish because I’m fighting it each time with nothing dropping. It’s really weird.
Are you sure you’re choosing Empower & not Challenge?
I am. I’m going to keep a closer eye on the next few and just make sure my eyes aren’t playing tricks on me. Can you Empower some of them multiple times or just once?
You can empower each one Twice. The third encounter you have to either Challenge or Banish.
Last question. Can you somehow mess up the cycle by doing another activity between encounters?
No, there’s no way you can mess up with Nemesis.
They’re pretty straight forward.
You either choose:
- enchance for a chance of inceasing LP on Uniques or increasing affix tiers on other items found next time you encounter a Nemesis.
- challenge to kill him right away and get to loot as they are.
- banish if you don’t waste that time, or don’t want to risk your life for those rewards (mainly HC), or just generally don’t care about those items, even if they’re empowered.
The banish option is important, because if you interact with a Nemesis but don’t engage with any of the options, next time you find one, the rewards will be exact the same. So you banish for the forementioned reasons but also to roll for new rewards next time you find him.
If I’m not mistaken, they changed it a while ago so the rewards will stay there intact even if you die to a Nemesis. So there’s really not much to worry about, you just find another and continue the cycle no matter what.
Just to clarify something, not because I think that might be what’s happening, but just in case:
Nemesis are bound to the character. That means that if you empower one and then switch to another character, it will be a new Nemesis and have a separate cycle.
You can go back to the previous character and continue the same cycle though. They don’t interrupt each other.
