Honestly I was there and part of the global politics fun, It really wasn’t that bad. Just the normal idle chat on global. I guess someone got a little too mad and just decided to drop the ban hammer. Yet, with no explanation and a ban on chatting with dms and friends. It’s really crazy.
You can’t even type the name Trump in global chat… People are just overly sensitive… Even so they can at least tell you what and how long. I am a paying customer and I wasn’t the only one. Just a warning for others.
Ill let you know what I said wrong as soon as they tell me.
The worst thing I put was Sleepy Joe and Kakling Kamala. You cant even say Trumps name. Biden can’t be written in a sentence. Would have said Biden if I could. No excuse to turn my entire chat off. They can just ban me from global.
It’s also against the code of conduct in the forums:
Continuing the discussion from Welcome to our Forums! Please Familiarise Yourself with the Code of Conduct:
Fine… tell me for how long then. Kick me from global. I can’t even message friends. Thats dumb. I’ll just play something else. No big deal.
But no one is talking about politics here, We’re talking about people getting stealth banned for “talking about politics” here.
I never said anyone was discussing politics here. Just that it’s their stance on forums as well. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they’re coherent with their position on game chat. Just like they do the same on their discord.
But it should be noted that EHG_Kain said, in a similar thread:
Continuing the discussion from Ingame chat ban appears to be permanent ban:
Using perjoratives is the offensive side of politics & if it’d carried on it would have gone to hell rather quickly…
They also don’t appear to tell the person privately either it would seem. In the linked post they appear to have told the person it was a year ban. Yet they haven’t told anyone else.
That’s fair, the person banned should email support if it wasn’t clear why.
Curious as to what you mean here, I was just explaining that a remark was made not to discuss politics on the forums. Yet, no one was discussing that here. Merely trying to figure out the ban from such talks in-game.
I stated Global Chat. That is in game.
Fair, though given what the OP said he said, I’m not surprised that there was a ban (per my post). I’d assume that the CoC for the forum stands for in-game chat as well.
Fair enough. I didn’t start it though and a global chat ban would be fair. I cant DO anything in chat. I cant see it or even message friends. I might as well be banned from the game.
There has never been a time when someone who got banned said this and did not deserve the ban.
Would you like to submit any more evidence that my assumption that you’re being dishonest about your innocence was right?
As it should be. There are a billion places to puke your political opinions at other people. It doesn’t belong in video game chat.
Personally, I think there should be a warning first, since many people might not be aware of this.
And maybe let people still use chat for messages with friends or group talk. Just ban global channels.
You don’t know if other people were also banned.
Look, I read the policy and deserve to be banned. However, saying the name Sleepy Joe and Kakling Kamala should not mean I can no longer use chat entirely. I cant even PM friends my guy. That aint fair. Ban me from global chat…
It’s a very subpar system to have zero warnings or mutes put in place but instead just be hit with a ban on all communications with zero information offered from the moderator that did it.
I’m 100% certain that they didn’t remove your entire ability to chat, everywhere, with no warnings, no prior account actions, and no information given to you, for no other reason than that. I’m also 100% certain that you know they didn’t too, and are continuing to be dishonest.
But even if I am wrong and they did, I’d still support and agree with it. People who have an insatiable need to tell everyone their political affiliation/opinions that they can’t even set aside when they’re playing a video game are insufferable, and I’m happy to see them treated harshly so they learn to keep that shit where it belongs, a list that does not include chat in video games.
I disagree. This is a video game. There is no legitimate reason to bring up real life politics, and everyone should have the good sense to know that. If you don’t, that’s a you problem, not a moderation problem. Removing your ability to chat does not harm you. There’s no reason you should feel entitled to a warning not to do something you should know better than to be doing.
No, I believe that’s all the person might have put. It was a very mild political conversation on global. I read most of it. There wasn’t too much offensive to any one side besides those who didn’t want to read political comments. That’s what a global chat is partly for, not just political comments but just chatting in general. The idea that you can’t bring up something because it’s a video game is very narrow and yes I do believe people are entitled to an idea of what they did wrong. How can someone improve themselves if they don’t know what they did wrong, what comment was too much and were the line in the sand is. One shouldn’t be punished for crossing a line and then not told where that line was they they crossed.
Also, the idea that because someone said something in global allows for them to lose all other types of communication is crazy. To add to that, have no idea of how long the punishment is and have to wait for another moderator to possibly e-mail them back. Why couldn’t the first moderator do such a thing to begin with.
That I disagree with. IMO, there should be some places where people can be without politics being dragged into it (from either side) given the rather fractious nature of politics at the moment. I’d also disagree that since the OP was using perjoratives for one side that “there wasn’t too much offensive” going on & given the rather disagreable & tribal nature of politics at the moment then that conversation would likely have gone to hell in a handbasket very rapidly. The OP may have thought that what he said was just being amusing or something, but I’d be surprised if he’d have felt that way if he were on the receiving end of it.
That said,
I agree that this should have happened.
