Don't Make Passives Take Up Ability Slots

Thank you for creating a fun and engaging game! My main issue right now (playing the sentinel) is that in order to maximize damage, I have to reduce the skill options that I use by equipping a stance and an aura, which just makes any game less fun and more one-dimensional.

My ask is that you do three things:

  1. Please give a separate skill bar to any passive toggle abilities. If I can only use one aura, or stance, fine, but then make me choose it and don’t have it take up my ability slots.
  2. Please make more meaningful ability choices. If there are several abilities that basically do some damage in different ways like hammer throw or shield throw and they don’t offer some lasting benefit, then I won’t equip them. The more you create cooldown abilities that serve a particular niche, the more differentiated and deep my character feels. It doesn’t meant that you have to create all new abilities, please just tweak the existing ones to make them give my character more utility.
  3. Please make the left click button both a move and an equippable skill that doesn’t require me to equip it in a different skill slot. If I have Rive as “Q” and I am basically just using it as left click then you just made my character more one-dimensional.

Thank you again for creating a very potentially awesome and already enjoyable game. I think y’all have quite a few differentiated and engaging abilities, with neat skill trees, but I’d love to see more here. Part of what turned me off after awhile to PoE was that once I pick all of the skills that buff my damage, I am basically running around and only spamming two buttons; that gets repetitive. I’d love to avoid that with LE!

Cheers,

I would like each mastery to have an aura. It would not be activable (would be always active but without any burst) and would be always passively present, so it would use a separate slot/indicator and not a skill slot.

Stances are very outdated and will not be supported in the future,

The most likely thing that will happen is they get removed entirely or they get moreged into one skill with soem customization.

Also a stances is not mandatory currently for maximizing offense or defense, since literally all otehr skills with a skill spec tree ofer more offense or defense.

Holy Aura on the other side i do like.
I would not want mroe simialr skills, since IMO it should stay unique, but the mix of “passive”, with an active compontent is very nice

Doesn’t this sort of already happen with each mastery getting a passive increase once chosen? Or are you talking more along the lines of a passive based on your mastery that affects you and nearby allied creatures?

So a mastery bonus then.

A mastery bonus, along with the existing one. It would not replace the bonus we already get, ilt would be a second bonus.

I would like to see bonuses in the very top of the passive tree that further increase the existing Mastery Bonus.

Similar to how VK can increase hsi Echo chance in the very top end of the tree and Lich for examples cna get additional global leech (which is unique to lich and bleeding heart unique currently).

This would be optional, but worth considering if you want to double down on the unique mastery bonus.

One thing i am incredibly sad aboput is the Sorcerer Mastery Bonus that gives 1% increased damage per 1 mana cost.

I do like this mastery bonus sooooo much thematically. But is is neglectable in endgame.
Anything to increases this or maybe give it a small more multiplier would be awesome.

Also Sorcerer is the only mastery IMO that could get a %Max Mana Regeneration/sec.
Maybe a 1 Points Node with 1% Max Mana/sec or a 3 poitns node with 0,5% Max Mana/sec.

It is good to hear that stances will be removed. I think the ideal is to have 6 skill slots filled with diverse and useful tools that can be used in a variety of situations. What do y’all think about replacing left click with a dedicated skill?

I don’t think its necessary, the game already has a ton of builds that are unique and fun to play. The game is also balanced around 5 specialized skills. You can work in a 6th skill if you have a skill that is autocast, you can take it off the bar and put in an unspecialized skill.

I also don’t really want another button to push, 5 feels great to me.

When I purchased the game I would have agreed. That’s what I wanted.
Now that I’m used to the game, I just want left click to be as it is. For me, the game is currently exactly as it should be.

I do agree. I still would like an aura as a second mastery bonus, but I do agree it would be good to have something more at the very top of the tree.

Do you aim for a 6th skill? With specialisation?

I’m not sure, if this is necessary. They could add a 6th or 7th skill. But what would you take them for?

The current builds have some mana spender with big damage and a mana generator with not so big damage. On top a movement skill. Then there are 2 slots left that often are used for utility like buffs or debuffs.

(De-)Buff skills often have a duration of 4s. So if you would add more of that kind of skills to your loadout, you might run out of the first buff before even being able to attack.

You could use some more damage skills, but would they also fit into your rotation? To be most effective, you would use the skill with the most damage output as often as you can. You could mix in other skills just to have some more variety.

If there were more passive skills like auras and stances that need to be in the skillbar and that would eat up slots for active skills, I’d vote for more slots. But right now personally I’m always trying to only have around 3 active skills and the rest to be more passive/triggered skills.

But admittedly I’m very used to the current system and maybe a bit biased.

But I see a lot of people being like @Shtrak on that matter. The first impression is like “What? Only 5 active skills?”. After a while it seems to be ok for most people.

Movement on left click, main skill on right click, then one skill per finger, including healing and minions for the thumb. Having more skills would be a problem for me, I only have five fingers per hand.

Yup, that’s how I do it.
