does ‘increase lightning damage’ increase electrify damage?
Normaly yes. I can’t think about a electrify source that isn’t scaling with lightning dmg because electrify is dealing lightning dmg as well.
im asking because under electrify tab, there is only dot tag. no lightning tag. not sure if its a misatake
What tab are you referring to here? Is it a skill tooltip?
Would be good if you post the tooltip of said skill. If it only mentions Damage over time then it works only with dmg over time even when it does lightning damage. Maybe there is some balancing involved here I’m not aware of or the tooltip might be bugged. We need to see it to tell more or we need at least the name of the skill that is applying the ailment.
last epoch build planner - ailments - electrify
if you look at this you’ll see that all sources that apply electrify are lightning based skills or converted skills. So to me it looks like the skills themself scale with lightning damage BUT electrify is for whatever reason only scaling with dot dmg. I don’t know why this special treatment is in place but it looks like it is legit.
All of the main DoTs like Ignite, Poison, Bleed themselves only have the DoT tag in LE Tools.
In game, if you add physical damage % your Bleed damage DOES go up on both character sheet and if you test it on a dummy. So I would assume Electrify would do the same with lightning damage. It’s not currently part of the character sheet so the only way to be sure would be to test it.
EDIT: Sorry that should have been a general reply not specifically to you @Irrelevant
so ive tested myself in game.
increase to lightning damage does scale electrify
it must be a mistake in the info
All fine. Now that you say it… fml. I never looked at ailment tooltips in years ^^. In theory it should scale with lightning dmg becaue it’s a lightning damage based ailment ^^.
Base Damage does not need a Tag to scale with “increased damage” of the same type. You can use the Shattered Lance set with any melee skill and deal a lot of damage.
If this was the case no melee skill would need a melee tag and no spell a spell tag and so on and so forth. it’s a question of consistency because normaly people are told “Look at the tags!” and were told the same by EHG. Leaving out tags because of reasons in one place is just inconsistent and a poor choice to inform people. If there was a lightning tag this thread would’ve not happened just for an example ^^.
melee, spell, dot, … are ability types, ways of applying damage, not damage types.
I just said how it works, not how good the taggin system is.
Well said, nothing to add here.
All skills need proper tags so we can understand how to scale them.
