Does forging feel too swingy to you?

If it’s supposed to be loaded because people want ARPG’s to take a while to get good gear, then I have no argument (other than my own personal opinion that that’s not a fun approach).

But I want to take a step back and ask if this is where the community DOES want the game to be.

I can play for WEEKS and stockpile 20 stash tabs of promising items. And then in a couple hours, I can go through ALL of those items and totally brick all of them.

  1. If ANY crafting step doesn’t include Glyph of Hope, I treat it as a doomed item. You can go from 50 forge to 25 forge in a single Chaos reroll ATTEMPT. Item is godlike with THREE affixes you want, but a t3 troll affix?!? Sounds amazing, right, 3/4 affixes. But those of us that hear t3 troll affix immediately understand. We can’t reliably Despair that. Now what? We Chaos it and brick it either from forge potential or hitting more troll affixes (with only 2 tries). Or you can take the Glyph of Hope approach (to try to save forging) and go for Hope + Removal, and nail that 25% chance to hit the right affix.

  2. Even when we have all 4 affixes that we want, Glyph of Hope is only 25% proc chance. At the end of the day, even with an amazing 4-affix drop, we still have to beat SEVENTY FIVE PERCENT ODDS constantly, just to come out with an item that we can put on our body to go out and play with. If Glyph of Hope doesn’t UNSTATISTICALLY GO OFF, then an item is almost certainly bricked.

Considering the real endgame is finding LP4’s and merging them with T7 & T6 ridden items, which is HOWEVER many layers of “not in my lifetime’s” as it is… can we step back and ask if we REALLY want the BASIC crafting to be this brick-prone???

It’s not “brick-prone”, crafting needs fail states otherwise they’re just item editors. Crafting in LE has never been easier or more effective.

Yes & it frequently procs back to back for several crafts. Plus there’s a hidden lucky craft roll where the FP cost is rolled twice & the lowest value chosen.
