With the new Legends Entwined, I kind of want to make another shattered lance build at some point this season. Last season I ended up making my own stupid paladin one even though I knew in the past this was more of a primalist thing because I couldn’t find any planners that weren’t a few patches out of date. That still seems to be the case now. I’m not that interested in trying to remake the wheel for what’s probably already a shell that people have optimized. So if anyone has a planner that’s at least up to date with 1.2 on so I could see what a cold melee primalist looks like I’d appreciate it.
I guess just for the sake of it, this is what I was throwing together, but there are so many random choices I don’t know what to do with: https://www.lastepochtools.com/planner/oYj7V0DA
Here’s one from 1.1 using Shattered Lance
Worth noting that Primalist’s main melee skill Earthquake saw significant nerfs in 1.2 so that’s a probable reason there aren’t many cold melee primalists from 1.2
If you ask me though the real boost from the new Primordial Ring for Shattered Lance is the ability to put in a Vessel of Strife in the relic slot for a chunk of ward gen.
Primalist has a ton of good choices for cold melee. Personally, I think the strongest option would be Beastmaster you have the massive bonuses from aspect of boar, shark and lynx as well as the new dexterity stuff which opens up Mourningfrost. With a ton of flat damage from mourningfrost, %inc damage from shattered lance, crit from lynx, more damage multipliers from shark, wolf howl/frenzy totem, etc. you could potentially go for Bastion of Honor and have block cap while still doing more than enough damage. Or just dual wield with a strong weapon for even moar damage or with a Cleaver solution for tons of ward.

This is what I’ve been working on theory crafting. Nothing I saw anywhere just something I threw together. Decided to try it out with Swarmblade form. Still messing with it, but figure show what else might be possible.

This looks interesting. I hadn’t considered also adding in the Ruby Venom stuff. Although unfortunately it looks like only the swarm strike gets the poison to frostbite conversion. The Armblade Slash gets the cold conversion from Serpent Strike, but that’s bleed to frostbite for some reason. I would have thought that would also be poison. (EDIT: I’m dumb, the poison to frostbite conversion is generically while in swarmblade form.) I’m not familiar enough with swarmblade to know really, but looking at this is making me wonder if you’re not meant to go more in on the Swarm Strike/Locust Swarm if you’re going with the Ruby Venom option. The Locust Swarm is melee damage over time right? So it’s not going to care about the crit we’re taking for the other hits. So while the frostbite isn’t going to scale with the shattered lance stuff, I suppose we can get a secondary source of scaling for both with cold or DoT. Or do we not actually care about the frostbite damage and that’s just for extra freeze chance?
Actually now that I’m looking at it more closely, does serpent strike even do that much hit damage? It’s only got 100% added damage effectiveness and barely any of the more damage multipliers apply to it’s hit.
Anyway, no idea how all of this works, but I definitely like the idea of trying to squeeze in an extra couple sets into the build and I can definitely see Ruby Venom being an easy one to add as long as we can get anything out of the poison chance even if we’re not going crazy with the fire res stacking. We do get all res from the primordial ring, so I guess it kind of covers itself.
Here’s my (probably unusable) build idea of a set based werebear. https://www.lastepochtools.com/planner/BZNOlMjB
