In my opinion, discontinuing the stand-alone launcher was not a good idea. The migration to steam was a mess. First, all the login issues till it was working, second the game has to be downloaded again and third, the old stand-alone game can no longer be uninstalled. And then the forum account is changed too. I bought this game because of its stand-alone launcher because Steam has sometimes issues with updating.
This seems like a user error / issue… If it was uninstallable before, it should be uninstallable now… What is preventing you from uninstalling it?
To each their own… but this is slightly ridiculous in my opinion – Steam very rarely has issues updating, and is very reliable, though experience may vary across different regions I suppose.
Standalone is kind of old school i guess. I really don’t care how my games start, wether there’s a standalone launcher or not. But since most of my games are on steam, I prefer steam.
Rarely having any issues. Clearing the cache always solved all the 3 update issues I had in decades of using it.
I did run the uninstaller and it told me that the uninstall was complete but the files were still there.
I unlinked several games (ex PoE) from Steam because of patch issues which I don’t have with the stand-alone launchers.
I found the mandatory steam migration to be disappointing as well. Especially since we do not have a real offline mode yet.
